I think its a lack of charismatic stars and horrible stories. I've seen better storylines in e-feds. But that's my opinion.

Kinda like the Law of Diminishing Returns. "I've done everything, so now what?" I saw it coming when Vinnie the Ninny bought first ECW, then WCW. Without any big competitors left, WWE lead wrestling into stagnation here in the US of A. I think TNA is taking the old WCW playbook while trying to avoid what killed it (high-priced long term contracts for aging and fading stars). Unfortunately, they have some of the storywriters WCW had near the end of their run. I'm not saying that there aren't any charismatic wrestlers out there. I think it comes down to politics (In wrestling? What? Never! lol) and crappy storylines.

Stories are becoming more important than matches. Also the stars don't seem to have the same longevity. Look at Brock Lesnar. Would have been great, but Vince lost him.

For one...wrestling right now doesn't have that HUGE superstar that the mainstream can embrace. You had in the past guys like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, the Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Andre the Giant. Even the mainstream people could tell you who they were if you said their name. John Cena and Kurt Angle have that potential, but Cena's not polished enough in the ring and Angle is one bump away from permanent retirement.

Plus, the way it's set up today is all about spot monkeys...just hitting those big moves every 20 seconds or so which takes away a lot of the story to the match. That shortens the matches. And fans don't have the attention span for that...you couldn't have a Flair-Steamboat 60-minute masterpiece without half the crowd chanting "BORING!" And that also means the titles don't mean as much as they get passed around like a whore in a cathouse. You can't have Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan-length title reigns.

Finally (ironic I'm about to say this about pro wrestling) but a lot of the realism is taken out of it these days. Yes, wrestling has been all about the characters but when we would see Dusty Rhodes talk about how he was going to beat up Terry Funk, we believed that Rhodes truly hated Funk. Now it's so much like a cartoon and the hatred is so campy.

You are totally right I mean you got guys that lack talent in the main events like John Cena he has the mic ability but has no ability in the ring what so ever and the story lines do suck they can't come up with any thing original you watch it and you say I've seen this crap before. So I miss the old day like WCW,WWF attitude, and even some ECW on the side late at night for me at least.

Their is nothing "wrong". It seems that is what wrestling has progressed to in the WWE. Lets be honest though. The storylines have to repeat because their is just so many ways to start a fight. I for one like some of the up and comming guys. Kennedy, MVP, Carlito, etc.

I so totally agree with you. I remember watching the old WWF on tv and there were always times my friends and I would be laughing and cheering and booing. They had some really interesting characters back then. Nowadays they put some guy with tattoos in a pair of trunks and call him a superstar. There were always feuds going on but nowadays it's like an overblown soap opera.

I agree with you totally. So many have died so young and look at the reasons. It used to be a fun sport to watch even though you knew it was choreographed. But now, they have gone too far with the steroids and drugs usage.
