This case is in many ways a different than ones in the past, the McCanns went out and left those babies alone, and then said they did nothing wrong, name me a case like this.

This is something that has always greatly bothered me! If it were Joe/Joanne Bloggs down the road in the UK who had left their children whilst they went to the pub and got pi*sed and something had happened to the children, then the Bloggs' would have have been totally condemned, labelled bad parents and probably had any children taken away from them. Why is it so different for the McCanns?
Lets face it, there have been pensioners put in prison for not paying their council tax, people fined for throwing a cigarette but out their car window etc. How pathetic is that in the scale of things? In this Country / World there always seems to be one rule for one and one for another. It is so wrong! Another example, Pete Docherty can be let off HOW many times for taking drugs? Joe Bloggs brother would probably get done the first time! I guess its what you know, who you know and how much money you have isn't it?

I think because there have been so many Public figures, Football teams, Authors, Celebrities,Stores, all throwing their twopence in and offering vast amounts of money as a reward
The British Press do not want to upset some of these people,
how gullible would they look if the McCanns were arrested for involvement.
If you give a fiver to a shop assistant and she gives you change of ten then that is a mistake.
If you wilfully go to the pub with your friends knowing you have left 3 children under 4 alone then that is neglect.
Surely the next person who leaves their children alone and gets caught should not have to answer to anyone same treatment as the McCanns after all the Media must think that that is o.k

The dreary weather adds to it. people seem happier in the UK during summer. British people are very nice when they are not under pressure of things lack lack of civil liberty, stealth taxes, over the top political correctness and a general sense of being watched/monitored for every thing. Seeing thieves and liars prosper whilst the hard workers are treated like worker bees. Speed cameras, cctv, Oyster cards for travel (so they can monitor where you are and where you've been), You pay road tax, tv licence, water rates, council tax, income tax, National insurance, and if you are Single and have no kids you get nothing back. I think Brits are very welcoming and fun but right now, the government has taken advantage of the fact that British people have a high tolerance for crap and do not speak up until they can't take it any more. We moan to our selves, friends, but it takes a lot to make them speak up and make a change. So all we do is moan to get it off our chest, if we didn't I think knife crime would be even higher than it already is (speaking for london that is). I'm not a white brit obviously but all Brits moan, all colours have had enough that's why so many are emigrating.

The simplest reason? Deep down, everyone wants Maddie to be found (whether alive or dead, partially just so we can have something else on the front page.....) - if they paint the McCanns as bad people, they lose the sympathy vote. Ergo, the general public think "they are bad people, they do not deserve to find their daughter."
I think their actions should be criticised more heavily though - you just DON'T leave kids that small unsupervised. It's bad enough that they have a license to use their own legs - if you take your eye off them for two seconds they go wandering off, they get covered in jam, stick their fingers in plug sockets, trip over the cat, bang their head on an open drawer, get their head stuck in a saucepan etc etc. I'm sorry, but how naive do you have to be to believe that 3 kids under the age of 4 will be just fine while you pop out for an evening meal?!

I have no idea why every newspaper in Britain thinks that the McCanns are sweet and innocent. I am sad that their child has gone missing but for Christ sake what did they think would happen. These 2 people are suppose to be highly intelligent and yet instead of using the babysitting service or the creche they prefer ed to leave their children unattended.
If this had happened in Britain with parents that were not high flying doctors social services would have intervened....
Its time more questions were asked by the British media like how on earth could 2 supposed loving parents act in such a stupid and neglectful manner.

Simply because they are white middle class professionals. Gerry was very clever from the start of this - ensuring that he was surrounded by professionals and a legal team. He orchestrated all of the interviews and was very much in control of the situtation - it appears that even his wife wasn't allowed to speak.
Had this been a working class couple believe me, things would be very different. This is why people are so angry with the McCanns. Not only have they abandoned their daughter and are happy to say they have done nothing wrong, they don't seem to shown any remorse or guilt for their actions. They have seemingly "got away with it" so to speak. The british public don't like injustice.

There was someone the other week who left their child in the car outside the cashpoint, got a battering from the media.
Saturn five - I don't think there has been a case similar to this one where a child of such a young age has been missing (and still is missing)and the parents had left them alone. There have been several cases where children have been left home alone and the parent/s have been prosecuted though. I'm not sure I could find an example, would like to see one though.

Having read the connections of Gerry and his friends all the way up to Gordon Brown I think I know how it is the McCanns have not received their expected roasting from the media.
It's a good job we have our heads screwed on and I would like to see the next set of sink-estate skeggy parents who lose a kid in the same way treat the same. But that won't happen. They will get the media bashing we have come to expect.
The McCanns are hopeless parents who treat their kids like house pets - bung em in a creche in the day and leave em alone at night. Yeah, great parenting.

I think they should be neither criticised nor praised. In fact the media should not be persisting with the case as much as they are. From the coverage in the papers, some might be lead to believe that this is the first child to ever go missing.
Personally, when I buy a paper I like to read news, and this is no longer news. However, I do have sympathy for them and obviously hope they find their daughter alive and well.

I agree with you.
The British media have presented an one sided, biased side of this case from day one.
In doing this they are letting the most important person down aswell - Madeleine.
