24 years old. 3 ultrasounds and a CT scan, all showing nothing, except "probable cysts" from the CT scan. 4-5 normal pelvic exams... no one can find anything. CONSTANT lower right side pain. it started last summer after climbing off a bunk bed, thought i felt a pulling sensation? then it started coming and going w/ periods, starting the same day, lasting 3-4 days after it ended. after about 6 months it turned constant. the pain was a VERY tender, just sore pain in my lower right side. it hurts to roll over or sit up in bed. it hurts to push on, it feels like something is swollen almost? i've had full blood work done too, and nothing is abnormal. the doc. put me on birth control and that helped almost immediately, but if i miss even ONE pill, or the week of the inactive pills, it's pure hell, w/ unbelievable soreness. can cysts really form that fast? w/ in a day? and why does it take the birth control 4-5 days to "make it feel better" again? i don't understand why no tests show anything

It sounds like the BC pills normalize your menstrual cycle.
It takes while for the hormone to built up in your bloodstream, that is why it takes a while for you to feel better.
I'm not sure why they didn't remove the cyst surgically?
Unless, it only has to do with ovulation. It would be good to get further medical attention beyond your current doctor.

It's my understanding that we get cysts every month regardless and it's normal. Everytime you ovulate a cyst forms, however they usually will rupture shortly thereafter.
I've been going through something very similiar to you for over a year now. Seen a fertility doctor who said it's "unexplained pelvic pain" (Duh) that sometimes you can have perfectly normal everything and still have it. He tried to say it's either something else entirely (meaning not reproductive, my case bladder) or it's psychological. Something about majority of females that have been sexually mollested or raped will have unexplained pelvice pain. Don't personally buy that myself, but who knows.
But to answer your question, yes the cysts are normal and can come on suddenly. You won't have problems while your on the pill because the pills keeps you from ovulating, which is what causes the cysts in the first place.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like you may need to see a specialist sense your regular doctor can't help...it has to be a reason. Sad....but they just can't find it.
