Mostly true but that is our own fault. We need to make our representative accountable for what they do or don't do.

In many ways true. Some functions of government have become so institutionalized, such as the Federal Reserve, Supreme Court, and State Dept, that votrs have little effect. The people running these institutions are the same that run influential private instituitons such as the media, charitable foundations, corporations and national political parties.
Also, the definition of citiznship has been watered down. Citizens used to be soldier-landowners-farmers that had an active interest in the governance of the country. Now citizenship is given to everyone, including those that don't fight, pay taxes, own property, or even speak our language.

Greed, big corporations, banks and money run this country.
Remember when the Government broke up Microsoft because they did not want Gates to have a monopoly? However, what have they done with the oil companies? Insurance? The same group of people that vote on their pay raises once a year FINALLY raised minimum wage after how many years?

Very true.
Big Business selects the candidates for each party. The huge expense in running for president guarantees that a comon man cannot be elected anymore. The expense in running for any office assures that anyone who does get elected is already indebted to business because that is the only way to afford the campaign.
I have to agree with Brian though. We've allowed this to happen. We've had this problem in the past and we've fixed it. We just need people to stand up and vote for 3rd parties, or vote for low profile candidates who dont have the financial backing of Big Business.

It's run by SOME american citizens. Most (the overwhelming majority) don't have any say whatsoever in what goes on in the country.
That's the price you pay for having a republic and not a democracy.

The US government is the country's most prolific and most inefficient employer of American citizens.
So I guess the problem with the government is us.

That is what our Founding Fathers found this country on, but the way congress has handled things, I think that the people WANT the government to control the country.

True, it never was nor was it intended to be. In a real democracy, there would be no positions. We have a representative democracy / Republic, all the citizens can do is vote for people to represent them.

The public has no actual say in anything that goes on, it is all part of the corporations controlling the public.

I think that we proved that we can control our gov't when we struck down the amnesty for illegal immigrants act in spite of overwhelming support in congress and the white house.
