I am gonna audition for the musical Annie (well, not until next year but I am still preparing myself) and want to know what the max. age for the part of Annie would most likely be. What do you think?

I played the part of Annie when I wan 12, but I was very short then and I looked young for my age. It all depends on how young you look, age isn't as much a factor as how old you look. Don't get distressed if you don't get the part you want, there are plenty of fun parts in that play, you don't have to be Annie to feel good about yourself.

Generally there's a height requirement. I've usually seen it where you can be no taller than 4' 10" so you'll have to check the casting notice and wear flat ballet shoes to the audition because in my experience they measure the girls' height at the audition and immediately dismiss anyone over the height limit.

As far as age goes, unfortunately it depends on the director. I've seen Annies that were way too old, even over 18 and a little too developed if you know what I mean. Personally I think no older than 14 and they should be very small for their age and underdeveloped and able to act appropriately.

It's great that you are preparing now because that's a very demanding role vocally. Don't push yourself. Take it one note at a time.

It depends on who is putting on the play. Annie needs to look younger then Mrs.Hannigan but perhaps a little bit older ("motherly?") then the other orphans. I would say 10-14 is best.

I've seen girls in high school play it. It depends on your size and look. There is not a set-in-stone age limit. It is important for the actress to portray that she is on the verge of becoming a young woman, but she still has to LOOK like a child. I would say that is one of the most important aspects of the character. (Not to mention filling the vocal requirements). Too tall or too developed doesn't work.
