Uh I support the troops and I don't like Bush so I don't support him.
Don't take people not agreeing with the war and wanting the troops back home as not supporting them. That is a way of supporting them. Why do people have to agree with the war? It has lost it's purpose. The United States is not a dictatorship, people before these troops fought wars as well, so we can disagree with this war and the president.

Where does anyone say "I don't support the troops."
Not supporting the policy that gets us into war isn't withholding support from the troops. Being angry at Bush for sending them off to be killed seems to be supporting the troops.
Being against a pointless war, or acknowledging the stupidity and futility of trying to referee a civil war seems to be more supportive of the troops than treating their lives as trivial and disposable.
Criticizing the government for lack of plan, not adequately supplying the troops, not giving them the tools to protect themselves, for ruthlessly rotating them back into action without necessary recovery time, call "B.S." on shameless propaganda that does not reflect reality, decrying them being used as photo-op props or propaganda tools (Pat Tillman), cricizing the administration for turning their backs on them when they are done serving or are wounded - all of this supports and values the troops.
Wanting to thump your own chest and never admit you are wrong, and being willing to expend their lives for pride and hubris is anything but supporing the troops.
Bush is not equal to the troops. Bush is not equal to our country. Criticizing Bush has nothing to do with respect or support for troops or the USA.

many people on here say that you can't support the soldiers if you don't support your president.
I say that's pure bull. I definitely support our soldiers who are only doing what they've been told to do.
What I don't support is a president who has a personal agenda for sending the country into battle, and who won't give a straight answer as to why we're over there.

For the love of Pete.. Just because I think the President was wrong to start a war in Iraq, and because I want the US troops to come home does NOT mean that I don't want our troops to be supported (whatever that means). If our troops are in harms way, I want them to have the best equipment possible, I don't want them in harms way at all. And when the Administration says that its the Dems in congress not funding the troops, that's a bunch of bull plop, it's the Administration that has spent buckets of money on contractors thats making the war so expensive.

I don't. I can't support the President on Iraq. I believe he has mislead and done a grevious harm to his nation.
These feelings I have for the President and his poor decision making have nothing to do with the troops.
Our troops don't have the luxury of questioning the mission. They do as they are told and I would never question their abilities.
But as a citizen I have a responsibility to the troops to ensure that the missions they are given...are appropriate and truly in the best interest and security of the American Nation. And when the mission is wrong...we the American People must speak up...because our troops cannot.

I agree with sassyk, this question is bogus. Not once since the smirking chimp busted into Iraq have I heard or read a negative comment about our troops. That includes all my very liberal and progressive friends and acquaintances. Think before you post a question.

No one is not supporting the soldiers. To think this is just silly. Support Bush no. Support the invasion/occupation of a sovereign country no.
Stunning conservative . You probably have never been so wrong in your life. Most of us don't hate. Nor do we spread hate.

Most true Americans support the troops but not the president. I fill the war is a never ending one and the only thing we are doing is killing young Americans while rich companies get richer selling there war machines and there $900,000 washers and screw.

I dont know a single person who doesnt support the troops.
The difference comes in how you support them.
I just think that the best way to support them is to let them do the job you told them they were doing-fighting to stop terrorism, not fighting to influence it so we still have control of certain gov'ts in the future. That means going after terrorists leaders, not fighting a civil war in Iraq.

That is baloney. I don't know of one person who does not support the troops. They are doing the best they can with what they have to work with, which is very little. It's this administration and the strategist running this war that I don't support.
