Take it to a jeweler. Time pieces are considered a form of jewelry. They would know. Most likely if you found it, it needs to be cleaned, and perhaps wound or a new battery. A jeweler can do all of these things.

Nickled plated brass, silver plated brass, silver and gold were all used in pocket watches. Gold would likely be 18 karat or less. A base metal such as " spleter" was also used for inexpensive watches. Their will be a makers name or company, likely inside the piece.

Take it to a jeweler to get is appraised, cleaned is the value is worth it. Could also be a much more recent watch, and those newer ones aren't real expensive unless it is made by a very well know jewelry type maker.

Flora may well be the person who bought the watch for a Husband/Brother/etc. Are there any additional details? What colour is the metal? Is it heavy?

It is most likely a foreign made watch. The numbers would likely be the serial number. Take it to a jeweler to find the answer to your question. The metal is most likely a base metal with a plated metal on it.
