The Imperial Presidency is a common way to refer to the radical imbalance of power between the Executive and the other branches. Bush refers to it as Executive privilege. Any way you put it, the growing empowerment of the executive is a threat to democracy.
While the US executive has always been unconstitutionally strong (at least as early as 1812, look for Madison's comments on the declaration of war), there has been a gross in balance in presidential power since the Nixon administration.
The problem with the imperial presidency is that it easily rids itself of public accountability. Presidential prestige is used to condemn criticism, much in the same way it was done when kings were the rulers of hte day.
If you want democracy you need a parliamentary system, clear and simple. A weak executive and a strong bicameral legislative does it. The judiciary should also be strong. It is much too easy for moneyed interests to put their one man on the seat. Whereas 500 plus seats make it costly on the wealthy to control the body politic. There are other reasons the legislative is a preferable ruler... but over all, the weakness of modern democracy (not just in the US) is the plague of presidents.

Most people want to lay the blame for bad government on the elected officials. They overlook the fact that this is supposed to be a government of, for and by the people and the people are not participating in it. Most people don't even bother to vote unless they're voting for their favorite American Idol. When the people get up and vote we will get good government. Until then we will continue to get exactly what we deserve.
We need at least 70% of eligible voters to participate in the next elections. The last time Americans voted in numbers even approaching that was 1960. Make someone you know vote.

I believe that personal freedom is becoming more and more limited.
There are too many contraversial issues to fully understand our problems. And if you cannot understand your own problems, how can you fix them? I personally believe that our current government must be abloished, as it, not just the current administration, is not changing like it should be. We need more movement in the constitution, as this will give us leeway into what should and should not be done. y'dig, expreiment a little.
Anarchy should reside among this country, and if we must have a government, it shall not be capiltalist, and it shall not interfere with the lives of others, but it should, while making sure to not interfere, protect them from each other, and protect the nation from outside forces.
Of course, this would be idealism, and that which is ideal is pure fantasy. Of course, it could be tweaked and played with.....

i'm no longer a Conservative, yet i might in no way no longer pay for wellbeing care. there's a reason human beings from around the international come to the U. S. for therapy. the U. S. docs and centers are superb notch. Having severe salaries for docs, dentists, etc makes the situation aggressive, purely the suitable scholars get into scientific college. the super coverage firms you talk of would no longer be suitable, yet they seem to be a heck of lots extra advantageous than Socialized drugs. as nicely, having it high priced promotes human beings to be healthful and not pass to the wellbeing facility for minor maladies, putting a stress on the device. i'm one hundred% for coverage refusing to handle fat human beings, human beings who smoke, and people who decide for an undesirable existence-form, it become their selection, they ought to stand the outcomes.

Special interest groups that manipulate the system for their own benefit.
I would ban special interest lobbies from politics altogether. Let the voters decide what is best for the state and the nation.

The rich and powerful (individuals and corporations, lobbies) control the media and hence, who gets elected. Then the elected become puppets to the people that got them elected, that is, if they want to stay in office.

We need to spend our money on our own people in our own country. Not destroy, then build back up other countries.
