Pure superstition ! There are no bad voodoo dead people rays put there that will harm the baby. A very close family friend was killed in the war when I was 12 wks pregnant. I went to his funeral and my baby is fine.

its superstition, theres an old wives tale that being around dead people while pregnant will make your baby a murderer, but its not true, i went to a funeral for my great uncle the month before giving birth and my baby is now 5 and is more interested in worms then killing people

lol

but if the person died of a contagious disease, then its best to stay far away

That is just a superstition, a really silly one at that. I think that may have just been started because losing a loved one can bring stress on pregnancy, but that's whether or not you go to the funeral.

Come on now? Would you not go to your mom or dads funeral if they died while you were pregnant? This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The only reason I could see there really being a problem for pregnant women to be around dead people would be in the case that she were a mortician-as in, she were embalming people. Tell that girl she is stupid and should keep her opinions to herself.

I think it depends on you believe it or not. Well, technically it won't do any harm to your baby, but I think it's the fragrance that gives you a bad mood which can influences your baby indirectly.

This is my suggestion: If this empolyee is one of your friend, then I think you can consider going to the funeral, but he or she just a mormal employee, then I think you can send his or her family a card, or a call that you're really sorry about it. This way shows you care about the funeral and you are polite, and I think they'll understand.

Just my suggestion. I hope can solve your problem.

i was told never to go to a funeral during pregnancy too. They told me it'll make the baby very sad when it comes out. I believe that it's just an old wives tale

The only thing bad about it is all the crying you may do. It's just added stress. Other than that, no...there is no harm in going to a funeral.

This is nothing but old wives tales. Do not pay it any mind. Just take care of your baby and ignore the comments that people make. Some people just like to say things when they know it will upset you.
