I am with the ASE tech that responded above. There is just not enough info to provide you a proper diagnosis.

Take it to a competent mechanic and explain your problem.
There is too many issues on a 94 Grand Am to offer you any advice on such scant info.

Good luck.

Need ALOT more information-isthe n Service engine soon or check engine or the little yellow picture of the engine lit up?
If so, it has a problem in the sensors or emmisions control system. Most likely, from your description of the symptoms, there is a misfiring cylinder, and it needs professional repair. Be advised-attempting to throw parts at a car to fix something like this(as in, first you put plugs in it-no help. Then you try wires-no help, etc,etc until you end up having to take it to a shop anyway) usually costs more than having it professionally diagnosed. If there is a valve problem, it can feel like a bad plug or wire-get my drift?
As a professional auto tech, I have no problem with getting paid to diagnose a problem and the customer taking the car home to replace easily-accessed parts. But remember that the auto techs, if they are any good at all, have thousands of dollars in mpersonal tools, and have spent hundreds of hours after work going to classes to do what they do., and deserve to be paid accordingly. Unlike the medical field, I don't come to work and 'Practice ' at being good at what I do-I AM good at what I do,!

Idle is too low.
It needs a tune up and new plugs.
The torque converter is locking up.
Or any one of a number of other things.

Got a mechanic? If yes, go see him. If not, get one.
