My neighbors pitbull attacked my wife 3 months ago (6 days after we moved into our new house) and I hired a lawyer and all. The dog also attacked another dog 4 months ago. But the guy did not respond to any letters and now the owners of the other dog are going to foreclose on his house.

I do not know how to feel. The dog is still in the house and he lives right behind me. He is an idiot for not responding. But I am feeling a little guilty today. He will loose his house.

My lawyer said do not talk to him. But i just do not know what to do? He is 50 and has grandkids at his house all the time. I just do not know if I should be upset about this.

I did call the police 2 minutes after the attack and took my wife to the hospital. The claim was misplaced by the dog warden as he is friends with the owner of the dog. But I still have the info on the attack from the police.

Let me get this right.

The dog attacked your wife.

The dog attacked another dog.

The dog owner is about to lose his house over the dog.

The dog is still in the house.

There are little children in the house at times.

What is it you feel badly about? Your wife? The other dog? The children who are exposed to an aggressive dog?

Surely you don't feel sorry for anyone who keeps a dog that attacks neighbors and other dogs and thinks he has a right to keep an animal that is a threat to the community.

Yes, you did the right thing. Think of what would happen if they were still there and the dog attacked a small child. My mother's pitbull type dog attacked me on more than one occasion, and after I ended up in the ER for a bite all the way around my forearm and got put on vicodin for a week, I finally put my foot down and said I'd call the sheriff's department if she didn't have the thing put to sleep. I felt bad in a way, but we have many small children in the neighborhood, and I didn't want anything to happen to them. Don't be upset, you did the right thing. Some dogs just go bad (or were made to be that way) and the only way is for something to happen to the dog or the owner.

I hate mean dogs. You're lucky your wife wasn't killed. Pitbull can not be trusted and can attack the guy's grand kids.
You have a right to be concern about the grand kids. Tell your lawyer.

Don't feel guilty. Everyone is responsible for their own actions.

I can't believe this dog has not been put down by the authorities. Don't confront the owner. Were the police called? Animal Control?

I'm glad that you wife is okay, hank I would not worry about that. When someone gets a animal and does not take care of it, and that person knows that animal is bad, that is the bad part of it, your wife could have been really hurt .

I put up my Rottie when people come over and see him, he;s a big boy, if he ever bit someone I would have him put down {it would kill me to do that} he is like a family member too me, but people who do not take care of there dogs should pay the price { my baby is 150 pounds he could hurt someone if he wanted to} Flowers

You should be upset only if he doesn't have the money to pay off your judgment against him...He's obviously an idiot if he didn't even respond to your overtures to deal with the dog problem.

File a complaint at the nearest police station so that appropriate action will be taken against your neighbor.

If you feel guilty there is a reason! You should do what your heart tells you to do. You will feel better about yourself when it's all said and done...

Good Luck!

He should have gotten rid of that dog. You have no reason to feel guilty!
