Do you pay taxes on SSI payments and if so how much?

When you declare the amount of income you earn, SSI is not counted as earned income. But when you declare the amount of money you have received in your household you do declare it.

If a person is a head of household - has a dependent - this is important because it can qualify you for earned income credit.

If you are on SSI and are not employed, you will not pay taxes. If you are employed and on SSI, it will depend on how much income you have.

No, the government does not tax SSI. Mainly because it's made up of taxes. :)

None, if you make under $12k on your job.a year last I heard. They may have upped the amount for inflation this year.
