Have you ever just pulled into a handicap spot (without the proper plates) briefly to run into a store or something when all of a sudden you are confronted by an elderly person who cusses you out for parking there? Or have you ever witnessed this happening to someone else?

Wow...just because a person asks a question doesn't mean they are guilty of it, I wanted to hear some interesting stories but obviously none of you have any.

No never - because I have a permit to park in these spots. I don't need them for myself, but my passenger does. He uses a power chair and I need to have the wider space so I can get the chair next to the passenger seat to get him out of the car.
It's a shame the fine for illegally parking in these spaces are so little here in Australia. I heard that in some states in the USA, the fine is over US$300. In Australia, it is about US$106. And shopping malls - where these offenses occur ALL THE TIME especially on the weekends, they get away with it because it is NOT a public car park - the cars can not be booked for parking inspectors.

No, I have never parked in a handicap spot. But I have used a handicap bathroom stall before. Only because someone else was in the other stall and I really had to go...

I have never parked in a handicap spot. My dad did twice & the first time his car wouldn't start & the second time he was hit by someone backing out behind him. You are cursed!!

I have never parked in a handicapped space. Well once but it was very poorly marked and I didn't realize it was a handicap space.

no I don't park there because I'm not supposed to. Respect the elderly and the disabled. If you were elderly or disabled you'd have a fit too if someone very capable of walking parked there.

i never EVER do that.
and i actually will not take the closest available space either. someone needs it more than me and gawd knows!..
i could use the exercize!!
edit..
oh! i always use the handicapped bathroom stalls. i have a bit of a claustrophobia issue. -... and besides , handicapped ppl carry less germs(i have no proof of this- it's my own little weird reasoning).

No, but I am amazed when I see people that have handicapped plates are able to walk miles thru the stores.

I don't park in handicapped parking spots. I have no reason to be in such a "hurry". I enjoy taking my time to walk. It's good excersise, too.

no. but while I was in the library my mother- in her 80's- was sitting in the car. some jerk came up to her and told her she was parked wrong and pointed to the "handicap" sign. she told him who I was and that I was in the library and to tell ME. Well no one came to tell me and the sign was an ARROW pointing to the handicap area. Apparently it was someone who knew I would give him the hairy eyeball and then ignore him.
