Yes, lib/socialists everywhere are crying tonight.

I wish that our very own Jack Murtha would now apologize to the marines he slandered.

Won't happen

I do not see where liberals had anything to do with the marine case. They violated military law and were brought to trial by the military.
As far as Padilla, I've never heard one liberal question whether he did or didn't do what he was accused of. He was found guilty in a court of law and that is that. What the liberals did question, and rightly so I think, was that Padilla was held for almost 3 years without charges, and he was denied his Constitutional rights (Padilla is an American citizen).
Does the end always justify the means? America is a country and a system of laws and rights. No matter the person charged, no matter what they are accused of, when these laws and rights are violate then we become no better than the countless dictators and fascist regimes throughout the rest of the world.

That's right, Padilla was convicted of planning to blow up a dirty bomb, the charge that got so much media attention when he was first arrested.

What? He wasn't? That charge was never, since it seems the government made it up?

Well, at least all the Marines have been cleared in the Haditha killings.

What? Only two have had the charges dropped? There are still others facing investigation?

Wow, guess there weren't any liberal frauds after all. How about that?

It's clear to me that you're a horrible writer, so no conservative PAC would hire you. You're doing this on your own. Wow. How does it feel to be an unpaid shill?

No one is innocent in a war zone. No one. Ever. End of discussion. You were never in one if you actually believe that. Like most people. There were merely enough extenuating circumstances to allow them to get off, and it would likely cause greater scandal if it were proven that they did kill civilians maliciously.

You're of course going to tell me that the killing of civilians never happens in Iraq. Well, Mr. Unpaid Conservative Shill, unlike the Unicorn, the killing of civilians in warzones is a reality. No one on the side of the Iraqis gives a flying flip about how it happened or why it happened. When a bomb or errant bullet kills them, do you know what they ask? Who did it. That's all. They don't care WHY.

And Padilla? Well, yeah. Padilla isn't exactly innocent. I'm sure he was talking to some al-Qaeda people. They pretty much proved that.

However, he was railroaded by Bush. Bush overstepped his authority and held him incommunicado. Make no mistake. You do realize that the Supreme Court said he had to be tried here in the US, and Bush wasn't going to allow it, right? You also realize that he was transferred to a federal prison in Miami in the middle of his proceedings. Do you know why? Simple. Any subsequent appeals would take place at the nearest federal court. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals is a Republican stronghold and nearly always votes in favor of the Republicans and their agendas, so they insured to get Bush's way on everything. That's the reason why the charges back to conspiracy to murder, maim and cause all sorts of nastiness was appealed in the 11th CC and the formerly dropped charges were reinstated in full.

The only thing that keeps this country from turning into a Kafka-inspired Nazi nightmare are the people that question what the Republicans do when they are in office.

Padilla was guilty. Big deal.

Padilla was never given counsel, was never read his Miranda rights, and was held for years with no trial.

He was first held for being a dirty bomber, a charge which was dropped without a trial. They then switched his charge to funding terrorist. This was also dropped without a trial.

The question isnt his guilt at this point, that has been decided. Now its definately time to look back at the methods of the US gov't. This man is a US citizen, he should have been given a proper trial, allowed to keep his rights, then executed as a traitor. Even non-US citizens are guaranteed certain rights that we are ignoring.

What good is it to stop your enemies if you lose yourself in the process? Im sorry that youre fine with it, but some of us are not content to sit by quietly while our nation abuses the rights of the people.

Good god, which talking head on smear radio did you hear that from?

I don't get it, you guys will believe anything you are spoon fed without even a whisper of questioning it.

While I am a liberal, I certainly do not take what is said word for word. I've got enough sense to look at both sides, let the smoke clear and then make up my mind.

You neocon zealots are nothing more then children watching Howdy Doody and thinking the puppet really is alive.

Peace

Don't know about the massacre and yes Padilla was convicted and yes he was guilty of having his fingerprints on a form.

But he was also held in prison for three and a half years without charges, lawyer or any of the other rights guaranteed to US citizens by the bill of rights.

I don't know of anyone that was claiming that he was innocent, just that his constitutional rights were violated.

Nowhere in the constitution does it grant any branch of the government the right to suspend or revoke the constitutional rights of any US citizen at whim.

Our government should have followed the constitution and the rule of law in this matter, because that is what sets our nation apart from dictatorships run by despots.

When we turn our backs on the constitution and the rule of law we become no better than a dictatorship run by a despot.

The only two "liberal frauds" are the right-wing's frauds that the media is liberal and that liberalism = communism or softness on terrorism. As long as people like Bush and Cheney are in charge, right-wingers like you have no right to accuse liberals of fraud. After all, fraud is how you got into the White House.

How is this liberal and how is it a fraud? It came out just the way it should have in a court of law.

Frankly, the way it came out is just what I thought all along but Padilla had a right to his day in court. Now may he rot in hell for his actions.

Is this the rape case of the Iraqi family? Marines plea bargained and hung him out to dry?
