I own a 1985 Pontiac Parisenne with a .305 engine. This car should typically be a quiet ride but it is abnormally loud but I don't know what the problem is or what part of the car is making it loud. I don't think its the muffler because its from under the hood. Can anybody help with this?

Most likely the exhaust doughnut has gone bad. it is the gasket between the exhaust manifold and the Y-pipe.

Jeez, it could be a lot of things...

The waterpump if the bearings are going out.
The AC Compressor if the clutch assembly in there is going out.
The engine if the oil is low
The Alternator if there are problems
The power steering pump if it's having problems or low on fuel.

Best thing is to take it in and find out.
