I'm assuming that you are going to complete the question by stating that the ratio of a + b to a - b is k (for some k which you will specify). So if

(a + b)/(a - b) = k,

we have a + b = ka - kb, or kb + b = ka - a, or

(k + 1)*b = (k - 1)*a. From this we find that

a/b = (k + 1)/(k - 1). In words that says the ratio of a to b is
(k + 1) to (k - 1), if k is not 1. (Of course, if k = 1, the problem is not solvable.)

What is the question ? If you want an answer you must state the whole of the question.
