The same people who defend them, make no mention of the black woman in the US who left her children alone while she went to the bar, one of the kids started a fire, killing 5 children in the house.

That woman is now in jail awaiting trial.

But nope, holier than thou parents like the McCanns are like Teflon when it comes to criticism from the media and certain sections of the public.

Hell they are getting more praise for their parenting than 'normal' parents who actually look after their children get.

The whole thing is ridiculous and I cant help but feel we have a bit of a Diana on our hands where some people want to share in the collective grief.

I support the McCanns against baseless, malicious insinuation.

What they did wrong is leave the kids alone in the apartment and I accept that they did so in the mistaken belief that it would be safe. I therefore categorise this as mistake rather than crime. Everything else is irrational prejudiced garbage with no basis whatsoever.

I can't understand why people think they know enough to declare the McCanns guilty of anything else when we know we do not have all the relevant information.

For example, I keep reading that there is no evidence of an abductor. How does the person who says this know? Did they see the interior of the room after Madeleine was discovered missing? Do they know what evidence the Portuguese police found? Answer: No, they did not and do not so they have no justification in making the insinuation that they do.

I could go on but I would bore myself.

I would not have left the children on their own and indeed did not when we had young children. The law did not come into it.
The Mc.Canns left their children in a place where they believed they were safe. Many other couples have done this over the years and no harm has come to the children.
Maddie was targeted the other children were not. So the true victims are the Mc.Canns who must feel dreadfully guilty for something which has happened and is not their fault. The fault lies with those who abducted Maddie. Not the Mc.Canns and that is why I defend their actions. They may have been unwise (after the event with 20;20 vision) but they have actually done nothing wrong, maybe unwise but not wrong. I do not know legal ages at which children can be left in Portugal but frankly this is an irrelevance. She was adducted by an unknown person and possibly indeed probably murdered. So perhaps the anti-McCann faction should concentrate on ideas for finding and arresting those actually guilty, and get their vicarious pleasure from shouting abuse outside the court when that happens.

One thing you can be certain of is that the antis will answer this. I can't be bothered to answer questions no one is interested in the answers to. This is just another witch hunt, you've got bored of the McCanns now you want to lynch their supporters.

EDIT

Maybe I am being unfair to you, but the last thread aimed at the "pros" was answered by the antis. They have taken on this self-righteous no one lets us speak when they are doing all the speaking and they give a big thumbs down to anyone who doesn't agree with them. The antis are as intolerant as some of the pros they complain about.

Defending the McCanns, seems to now cover everything from child neglect to murder. I think they were guilty of neglect, but I don't fall into the I don't have any feelings for the parents camp. I have no interest in attacking them for everything they do and reading into every action proof of guilt. Some people simply think we should simply await the outcome of the investigation, not me, I suspect they are called pros too.

You are wrong if you say there is only one victim. The whole family is suffering. As every mother and father would do so if their child has been stolen from them.
There is no evidence to support any wrong doing on the part of the McCanns. They are not evil people. Or have not been proved to be evil, anyway.

I do not defend their actions but neither do I attack them with vitriol as some people on here do. They have been punished with a life sentence for the loss of their daughter who they loved through a mistake, that they will suffer the results of, for the rest of their life. They will never make the same mistake again with their children. It will hit them like a hammer when the press fade away and they walk through their door to a home of deadly silence without her. They are of the old school who don't show their emotions in public, but nowadays that is frowned upon, people demand tears.

Dont forget people are reading the British press, and believing what is printed. Its just brainwashing.
Now if more people had access to the Portuguese news articles, they would start questioning things. Luckily people do translate them for us to read, and you can, but you have to know its possible. I suppose alot of supporters wouldnt want to read it now, they have made up their minds.

Although I would be classed as anti - McCann I do understand why people defend them. People feel that they have been punished enough for their actions and should therefore be left in peace to deal with whats happened. Personally I feel that they should still be investigated for neglect, it is terrible that madeline is missing but they shouldn't be excused of their selfish behaviour.

when the news first broke it was easy to defend the parents, as they said it was like eating at the bottom of their own garden UNTIL you saw the pictures, the apartment is hiden from the view and it was def more than 50 yards, BUT i sit at the bottom of my garden it's 300 feet away from the kids bedroom at the front of the property, if my children were taken because i forgot to lock the front door would you all criticise me ?, yes i know they left the door unlocked and they left them but if you went round thinking that at any given opportunity someone would steal your children you would NEVER let them out of your sight, that's not healthy and it would be impossible to live like that. yes what they did was neglectful and wrong and i think that no-one knows that better than Gerry and Kate, we should concentrate on finding Maddie and then ask questions later, i cannot defend what the parents did but i can say that i have done things that some parents would not find acceptable whilst raising my children but that doesn't mean i don't love them !

I agree with u...

wasnt their blood of Madeline in the apartment found, anyway, why would some1 murder just the 1child and not all 3kids, in my view they should be locked up and the twins took off them and put into safer hands... I wouldnt be surprized if they murdered their own daughter and staging this man hunt all too look innocent... what ever way they are held responcible and should be charged for neglect of their daughter, simple as that....

It is the parents own fault if they didnt murder her themselfs, and thats only an if...

Hmmm yeah the old 'it was a mistake haven't they suffered enough chestnut'

Mistake means to make an error.

Mistake may also refer to:

"Mistake (contract law), an excuse for non-performance of a contract
Mistake (criminal law), or mistake of fact, a defence to criminal charges on the grounds of ignorance of a fact
Mistake of law, a defence to criminal charges on the grounds of ignorance of law"

well go figure eh?
An error or accident is something you may have had little choice or control in - they made this 'mistake' night after night after night.

Of course they are suffering, they have lost a child and I don't dispute that, the feelings must also be compounded by the knowledge that they could have prevented this.
