He died due to what is now considered a massive and sudden heart attack, but at the time was believed to be congestive heart failure due to an enlarged heart and drug misuse (in early 1977, he was reportedly given 199 prescriptions). He was found in his bathroom by his finacee, Ginger Alden. However, some theories currently exist that Elvis Presley is not dead in his grave, but was put into the witness protection program.

He died 30 years ago this month. I really wish people would stop saying he died on the toilet. He was not sitting on the john. Just goes to show what people will say. The first ones to find him stated he was on the bathroom floor. He evidently went to do his business-and after he finished- he had a massive heart attack. He died from abusing prescription medication that should of never been prescribe in the first place. When you are famous like he was, Dr's just tend to give you what you ask for.Same thing happens today. He was overweight and was not taking care of himself.

Died of a heart attack brought on by the abuse of uppers and downers. The abuse caused him to have problems with constipation, he strained his heart too much.
