Yes.

And what's interesting is that I'll bet you'll get YES from everyone across the spectrum.

[edit] Pink Angel said it precisely right. I've frequently said exactly the same to people myself.

As a Canadian who has watched the United States slip into fascism over the last 7 years, I'm appalled and angry at what has happened. I haven't always agreed with American foreign or domestic policy, but most of America's mistakes I've put down to ignorance and I've generally assumed that the government of the U.S.A. had good intentions. Now the United States has become an honest-to-goodness force for evil and it scares me. Fortunately, Americans are beginning to wake up.

yes. I want our politicians to be honest with their campaign speeches so we feel that we truly are electing the correct person, and that it isn't just all talk. I want them to actually listen to the people of THIS country, in terms of what we need, and to stop giving us programs which aren't necessary. To stop giving our children MORE standardized testing which might prevent them from going to college. To actually turn their eyes towards the poor and realize some truly are just barely scraping by on what they make, and many are far into the red and may never get out. If the GOP is truly into family values, then why does it seem they only care about THEIR families? Why can't they realize that a family is not necessarily a mom, a dad, 2.3 kids, and a dog?

I want a government who, when they have issues with another country, they'll actually speak with the leaders of that other country and not just talk trash about them instead. I want to know the REAL reasons why we invaded Iraq- we're not a charitable country and we're not handing out governments and democracy and Constitutions left and right. There is a hidden agenda which supposedly benefits us, but what price is it going to be in the end? How many lives are we going to sacrifice for our greed? How many families are we going to shatter by shipping their kid off to fight "for our freedom"?

As a Canadian who lives near the border and who has always had good relationships with her American friends and family , it pains me to see the polarization and the out and out hatred between people in their political or racial or religious beliefs. And I'm sorry I blame Karl Rove , the late Lee Atwater and the extreme right wing religious fundamentalists for the great impasse.

Americans always seemed to respect other people's views even if they didn't agree with them but now it's if you don't agree with the GOP and President Bush's policies you're a traitor to the US and not a friend to the US if you're in another country.

I don't always agree that the US is the greatest, richest , most talented country in the world, I think we all feel our individual nations are best, however it saddens me to see a once resilient, tolerant country slip into almost facism and intolerance.
:-(

More sad than angered. The late 50's and early 60's were a great time to be an American. I miss it.

Country music's got mammas and daddys,
they got bar rooms and old heartbreak songs,
but I'm here today to stand up and say how I feel about my home sweet home,
what's left, what's right and what's wrong.
'N I'm takin' my country back.
Son, you ain't been doin' her right.
Oh, I been watchin' you and I don't like how you been treatin' my stars and stripes.
You took out our jobs and sent 'em over-seas;
now we owe billions to the red Chinese.
You blew the budget and you bounced Iraq.
So I'm takin' my country back.
We had a bundle in the treasury drawer,
more than there had ever been before,
but every day we're down and deeper in debt.
Maybe four years should be all you get.
Then you gave tax breaks to the millionaires a
nd you tried to make the workin' man pay,
but you can't tax a man when his job's not there.
Now lookit where we are today.
Hey, I'm takin' my country back.
Son, you ain't been doin' her right.
Oh, I been watchin' you
and I don't like how you been treatin' my stars and stripes.
You got too many fancy friends for me.
The Saudis treat you like you're royalty.
You blew the budget and you lost Iraq.
Now I'm takin' my country back.
Now, I can understand why you were hot,
'cause bin Laden never did get caught.
So you said we had Saddam to blame,
tried to tell us it was all the same.
Now the years roll by and our kids keep dyin'.
You don't even have a plan to bring 'em home.
Those WMD, you promised on TV--hey admit it, you figured it wrong.
So, I'm takin' my country back.
Now, you don't know my name,
but you know who I am.
I'm your everyday work hard, play hard,
raise kids and pray hard common man.
And Lord knows I love this land.
So, I'm takin' my country back.
Son, you ain't been doin' her right.
Oh, I been watchin' you and I don't like how you been treatin' my stars and stripes.
You say you're not but you designed this war
to beat each other on the city floor
and we're supposed to be above all that.
So, I'm takin' my country back.
I've got my family and my church and
flag and I'm takin' my country back

We should review every single piece of legislation passed since 1946 .

This was when fear began to write our future and shape the minds of others .

We developed a disposable society .

Nothing we do today short of going back over the last 60 years and correcting the past injustices will repair our situation today .

Yes. That's when you mature and lose the idealism of youth. When I was young I believed all the idealistic nonsense about how we elect our leaders, and how we have a democracy and power of the people. Then you find your place in this extremist capitalistic society and move on.

Not angered, but disappointed. I was proud of America on 9-1-2. We stood United, we waved the flag proudly and we put aside our political differences to come together in a tragic time. We overwhelmingly supported the war 80-20. We stood strong, and showed the world that we are still a sleeping giant. Now, we are back to apathy, political in fighting, and contempt for one another. We now, show the world that we are all bark, no bite, and have no stomach to do what is right and justified. We just want to get back to our basketball, soccer, picnics, movies, and xbox. We have forgotten the cost of freedom and expect it to just continue without no payment from our citizens.
