What is it about 80's music that is so powerful? For me, the music of no other decade sounds as cool. I would rather hear the same old songs over and over than listen to 90% of the new stuff on the radio today. Even remakes of 80's music doesn't do it; sometimes it seems sacrilegious. Is it the sound, the artists, or something else?

80s music was really powerful feel-good music. I loved the different genres that were taking off like the new wave and then later the glam and hair bands. Plus the synth driven songs were cool. Fashion was like never before, MTV was new so it was really the first time many fans could see what some artists looked like. Since I was a teenager in the 80s, it has all kinds of nostalgia for me. I love the 80s!

No offense towards the 70's lovers, but the 80's made things fun again. We got new wave and punk right about the same time. We got MTV and WOW they played actual videos. Those early videos made the songs and artists so memorable. I guess the best way to describe is this. There was a lot more variety in alternative during the 80's instead of having ten different bands during the 90's sound like Seven Mary Three.

I love 80's music! I think the music from the 80's is unique and creative. Music from then doesn't sound the same and there were numerous genres of music to suit anyone. Today's music doesn't cut it for me, I hate it. Most of the music I listen to is from the 80's. I wasn't alive in the 80's (I'm 15) but I think it's the best decade for music.

i does no longer call myself an addict, yet i admire a brilliant form of the music of my 'era' ~ i'm very almost 27. I also have a concern with singular favourites, so right that's a selection :~ 'All She needs Is' ~ Duran Duran 'Rain' ~ The Cult 'who's That female?' ~ Eurythmics 'fringe of Seventeen' ~ Stevie Nicks 'riot Yell' ~ Billy Idol 'isn't It middle of the night' ~ Fleetwood Mac 'a sort of Magic' ~ Queen 'Boys of summer season' ~ Don Henley 'Love is a Battlefield' ~ Pat Benatar 'Gold' ~ Spandau Ballet 'Ghost city' ~ The Specials 'It might desire to be Love' ~ insanity 'against All Odds' ~ Phil Collins

All about taste. I like the 80's, but for me the 70's was the ultimate decade for music, followed by the 60's and 50's.

If you grew up in the 80's ,as I did, you associate the 80's music to the memories you have of when you first heard the song. Nostalgia. Also a lot of music today just isn't as innocent as the 80's music. Even music back then that we thought was edgy is considered safe today in comparison. Gotta love the 80's!

I have no idea the 80's were really good times for music, Madonna, and Micheal Jackson but now it sucks. Too much hip hop and funky crappy kind of music. I like the 80's and mid 90's better.

I am constantly told to get out of the 80's. I still love glam rock GN'R, Skid Row, Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard. There is nothing better than an 80's power ballad with a killer guitar solo. They were the bad boys of Rock N Roll. A generation who didn't give a sh!t about what people thought of them, who would do what the hell they wanted to do, and would never sell themselves to the likes of nowadays commercial B>S you hear on radios. But also the songs had a meaning because they lived it, they sung from their hearts, they felt it.
If I had a time machine I'd be back there. Long live the 80's. Please take me back to that Paradise City.

haha i love this question! i feel the same way. i like 80's music because thats the generation of music i grew up to, and it's like no other sound out there. i think todays music is so computer generated that it just doesn't sound original! and 80's music had something about it that just made you want to get up and get motivated.
