You can reach the top shelves in the store (and short people will impose on you to do that for them).

You can see over crowds (and be seen by others, and during parades, you could be asked to hold little children on your shoulders)

You can date other tall people and short people (though a short person will look disproportionate and you will become a topic of conversation)

When washing windows or a car you don't need a step ladder, just a stool (no disadvantage to this, using a step ladder you have further to fall)

BTW-- I'm just under 5 ft, my best gf is nearly 6 ft and her husband is 6-4 (my husband is 5-6) We have a great time together, and get lots of stares...and as a shorty, I do ask tall people to help me out in stores..they are always very abliging and kind...

Thank you Tall People, from us short people, when you want something off that hard to reach bottom shelf, let me know.

Advantages: You can reach things, tall people typically make more, as you get older you will carry your weight better (take it from someone 5 foot even with a 6'5 in hubby!).

I really don't see any disadvantages but this is coming from a short person who would love to have an extra 6 inches just to wear normal clothes. If you are extremely tall (like my husband) you may have trouble finding pants. It is becoming less of a problem though as Americans get taller. The Big and Tall store is a great place to shop.

Advantages: you can reach things, if you play tee pee and indians as a child then it's really easy to crawl under your legs if you are a tall child, tall people tend to be models, tall people come across as sort of heroic.

Disadvantages: You can't be cute and you may feel a bit awkward if you are really tall, you may have to squash up your legs to fit in cars, you have to crouch down to kiss someone or get something from the bottom cabinets.

I'm 6ft 2" and it easier to change light bulbs! But watch out for those that hang low - you hit your head on them! lol People tend to look up to you - especially if you stand close and look down on them - a good advantage! Buying clothes can be a pain though - they are all made for midgets! lol The legs are too short and arms on things a little too short. But i'm past caring. I just need a new pair of jeans that are 34" leg and 32 waist.

You can see the parades easier, you can reach things on the top shelf, people look up to you, you look like you weigh less than you do. Disadvantages you have to pay for more longer pants! And most men are shorter than me.

am 6' 1" and only 17 so i know. its good to be able to look down on people that you used to look up to (physically, not figuratively) but you always bang your head coz most houses were built for average height people.
