Will the lessons include the FACT that some Muslims nations execute homosexuals? This will build an awareness of gov't views throughout the world.

I'm tired of it being glorified. I got so sick of all the "bi" people running around screwing a male and a female at the same time when I went to highschool. So this is what we want to teach our kids, eh?
The world's going to Hell. Far out.

"To school officials, the lessons are a natural outgrowth of sex education and of teachings on tolerance and diversity."
It would seem to me that they are teaching an understanding of what homosexuality is although not necessarily advocating it. People tend to villify that which they don't understand. While we don't approve of the sexual behaviors of gay and lesbian people they are people and do deserve our respect. To understand the precautions they must take in having sex we can understand precautions heterosexuals need to pay attention to also. The classes are taught to kids during the time in their lives when they are inquisitive about their bodies and the bodies of others. By enlightening them about homosexuality in school they won't try to find out on the street or through experimentation on their own.
It is too bad that the schools have to do this and that it obviously cannot be intellegently discussed at home parent to child. Often the parents have drawn conclusions when they, themselves know nothing and thus cannot be in a position to discuss this topic with their kids. We go by our church teachings and that is fine if it works for you. It did in my household but not all households are that way. Many parents are too busy with their own lives to be involved in the lives of their children and thus don't talk one way or the other about the subject of sex with their children so it is better to have them properly and scientifically iformed than illinformed or uniformed and resort to finding answers to their questions on the streets and through experimentation.

I think you are confused. Homosexuality is not being 'taught' as in how to become homosexual. What students are going to be instructed about is what the gay lifestyle is about in the hopes of promoting a better understanding. The education is intended to reduce the confusion, reduce the hatred, and hopefully reduce the violence against homosexuals in our society.
This is directly from the article:
"The lessons’ central message is respect and acceptance of the many permutations of sexual identity, both in others and in one’s self."
While I do not practice nor condone a homosexual lifestyle I do think they have the same rights as you or I do to follow whatever sexual preferences they choose as long as they do not violate current laws.

This move is clearly not to promote or condone homosexuality. The article was clear in stating that it wanted to teach tollerance and understanding. Is that so wrong? It doesn't even need to be within the context of a sex ed class...it could be part of a lesson that teaches students to be kinder and more caring citizens. With the number of students who now leave a same sex home and the number of young teenagers who are grappling with their own sexuality, I think it offers a reprieve from the hatred that is so rampant in society toward homosexuals.

My problem with King and King isn't so much that it's right or wrong for kids to hear that it's OK for a King to live with a King.
My problem is that because we now spend so much of the school day on such matters, kids these days need a calculator to figure out that if you have eight houses with two kings each, that makes 16 kings.

NO! It is my right as a parent to determine what my child is taught in these areas and so it has no business being in the school system! My own personal feeling is it is a sin, and there is nothing acceptable about it. I have the right to feel this way and I will add that I don't hate those who are gay, just their lifestyle. I think the whole idea of sex education in the schools is not working or we wouldn't have all these single mothers out there despite all the birth control. Why is it the schools refuse to teach abstinence?

I think it should be up to the parents to explain homosexuality.
Parents remember you can have them removed during a certain part of a subject if you do not like it or believe in it.
You would not believe how many parents did that during the evolution section in biology.

This is taking it too far. I know Hillary is looking for a wider group of friends she can be accepted with, but I would pull my children out of this school. Where are vouchers when you need them?

People should be educated but not have it crammed in their face as kids. I didn't need to be taught it in school. There are some things that parents should be explaining to their kids when the time is right.

They do a piss poor job of teaching the ABC's and the 123's,maybe they'd do better at a subject they know.
But,I doubt it.
