I have goldfish eggs which i only noticed today while changing the water in my tank. I have 3 shubunkins in the proper size tank and by the looks of things only one fish has egged!(im guessing by the small amount of eggs) how do i know if they have been fertilized? They are kinda the same colour as the fish food, a see-through-ish yellowy orangey colour! iv taken the eggs out and put them in a diff tank with water from the original one. I would love to try and breed them but have no clue as to how! (as you can tell) could someone let me know?!

Many thanks

Kendra

Interesting. How old are your goldfish? Although not unheard of, it's rare for goldfish to spawn in an aquarium unless the conditions have been intentionally set up to stimulate spawning. One fish can produce several hundred eggs though but if not removed, they will also eat them which would explain for the low volume.

Did you notice cloudy water earlier in the week? The abbreviated process is something like this:
After being chased, the female will release her eggs, scattering them (they're egg scatterers). The male, who has been chasing her, will the release sperm fertilizing the eggs. This will also cloud the aquarium water for awhile. Either the eggs or the parents should be removed or the eggs will be eaten.

You're description of the eggs is a good sign they're fertile and doing good. You should start to be able to see the development of fish inside of them soon. when they hatch, feed them finely crushed flake. Make sure to clean their tank twice a week (use a turkey baster for this, and yes I'm serious). If you decide to use a liquid food, you should clean the tank every day.

I'm including a link for info on breeding so you can check your progress, but it sounds like you're doing all the right things already.

Did you have a male fish in the tank with the eggs? This is important as the male has to lay his sperm on the eggs. No male, No fry. If there is a male in there, There is a 99% chance of fertillisation as the female wont produce eggs for no reason.Hope this helps

particular i think of he or she is pregnant if she keeps floating to the floor to guard the eggs and is her abdomen somewhat vast ? like a bubble in her abdomen????. once you're nevertheless undecided then take it to the vets or she ought to purely have a foul fin . she would be able to be ok and that i think of you need to take her to the vets just to be save i think of she is pregnant and would have 4 or 5 little fish stable success and was hoping this has helped.
