Laughter Is The Best Medication For What Ales You It's True.
There Are More People On This Planet Who Believe In God Than Those That Don't. I'm Not Saying We All Call Him By The Same Name But We Can't All Be Wrong!
My Salvation Is Assured By The Sacrifice Of One Man Who Lived Among Us And Died That I Might Be Saved. I Will Not Force You To Believe As I Do.

Which makes you laugh - the concept of a god, or the concept that some think god is an imaginary friend?

I'm not an adult but God is my imaginary friend too. Many, I believe, are those who cannot imagine, who believe they can but don't. They cannot go beyond the fact that some things require more than logical thinking and reason. The ability to believe without proof comes to precious few people.
The question is: Can people go beyond their limited, ego-centered self and accept that there are some things that really are greater and better than themselves?

It is derivative from the thought of Ludwig Feurbach. Of course is you ascribe to the understanding of God as "that which nothing greater can be thought"-- one could hardly consider that the articulation of something akin to an imaginary friend.

God is not imaginary; it is a reality which can only be realised by pure heart, nothing else. It is cosmic conscience, present everywhere all the time. Polluted mind can not believe in this reality.

If you can laugh at it, at least you have a sense of humour. Of course those that are believers in god would find it offensive if this remark is meant to ridicule their belief, but I am sure there are believers out there that would not take it personally and find it humorous in a satirical way.

For non-believers this is the perfect little jab to ridicule those whom they feel or think to be deluded and naive, or as an allegory to communicate their perspective on the whole god issue.

It is as arrogant for atheist as it would be for believers to disrespect the others perspective on an issue for which there is no definitive way to prove the truth one way or the other in a manner acceptable to both parties. If a believer predicts my final condemnation to hell due to my agnostic views, I pity for them for carrying such a fearful and judgemental view around tainting their evaluation of their fellows as yet unsaved.

It must be terrible to know (believe) that this fellow person will soon be tormented for eternity by the most evil character we could come up with. It must be a burden to be around a normal person whom according to more empathetic human views are not deserving of such a fate, knowing (believing) that god would judge them harsher for failing to believe in "him" and condemn them to fry, even though their lack of faith is quite understandable coming form a scientifically and rationally orientated contemporary worldview which demands proof and evidence before accepting anything so fundamental.

The fact is none of us know what the truth is regarding the mystery of life and consciousness, and thus we should refrain from ridiculing people’s attempts at understanding their origin and purpose. Neither science, nor religion can solve this mystery, only death will tell (maybe).

Charles it is a juvenile response from those who read books written for grown ups. If a man or a woman cannot understand what is written for grown ups then they should leave it alone.
