I think that they did not consider this risk. All operations after 10 days are no longer search and rescue. However they pushed the ticket on this one while every bit of evidence showed that they were dead in Utah. I believe that the governor for not putting a stop to this and the mine has the blood of the 6 killed today on their hands. Do you believe they should have jsut ended it and get on with their lives and town? After all everyone knows the risk to miners.

Its a hard pill to swallow but it probably would have been better if they had just suspended rescue operations. All the experts believe they're dead. Now instead of 6 dead we have 9 dead.

To a certain extent I feel you are correct. However, for the sake of the families of the miners that were buried originally their bodies should be recovered. However, as far as the rescue efforts go, the mine company should hire people that know what they are doing to get back to an operational status. From what I've read this rescue effort has been one big screw up after another, It's really embarrassing.

Pretty damn well if you ask me. And are you familiar with ALL the details? I doubt it. Maybe if the Feds started playing nice Massey would cooperate? You just don't lock out private investigation OBSERVERS, malign a corporation in the press and try to cover up your hand in the ventilation failure and expect them to be cordial now do you? You do realize that, Massey, offered EACH ONE of the families a FULL ride scholarship to the college of their choice(in W. Va) plus a pretty big settlement REGARDLESS of whether or not they filed a civil suit? A few, smelling dollar signs, opted NOT to take the money or scholarships at all. YOU should really read up on MSHA's "little misbehaviors", it's really kind of funny and pathetic. Sort of if they have a personal grudge or edict from Lord Obama.

No. There is always that little bit of hope. We don't know how much food and water the trapped miners could have had with them, and the rescue squad knew there was dangers of going into the mine.

It is only the coal miners and there family, understand the gravity of situation, they all work as a family there, and any member has a problems,it does affect the others.
It is very dangerous job, and until they come back home, all the family members are waiting for them. This is there life.
so when any member of the family is affected, they will try there best.risk there life to save each other.

you have a point, however, trying to rescue fellow workers is also inherent in these men. they might feel what if that was me down there ? I just can't forsake a fellow human being, must do my best and at least put forth my best effort for if it was me, I would expect the others to do the same for me.

Yes its very sad that more have died trying to rescue them.

But honestly I don't believe they expect them to be alive, but of course they want to send rescuers to get their bodies....only now they have even more to bury.......so sad.

My heart is with those who've lost someone.

If those trapped miners included the father of your children, you would not even be asking this ugly question.

i think that's a horrible thing to say.

(not insulting you...)

the lives of human beings aren't just to be tossed around like a beachballs. think of their families! how would they like that?
"sorry, miss. we've given up the search for your husband. he's as good a s dead anyway."

i think that would be awful.
that's my opinion.
