It is still used here in East Tennessee.
I am curious how wide spread is it still.
Peace.

No, not here in Maryland.

It was when I was a kid in elementary school and I think it helped a lot. I never got in any trouble...just knowing that the principal could "paddle" the kids, kept me on my toes!

Of course not here in good 'ole liberal California. It was when I was a kid ... and man did that ever make a difference. Now if you even look at a kid funny they can sue you ... not only the school, but the teacher themselves. Great system we have goin' here, huh? And they wonder why less and less people want to become teachers. We have no protection anymore ... even from parents. So sad ... we deserve that at least.

We wouldn't need corporal punishment if more parents did their "job". Since they don't ... I wish we could bring it back! (When we have kid's here telling teachers to "f*ck off" and "go to h*ll" and getting away with it ... hey, freedom of speech you know?) Perhaps I outta pack my kid up and move to TN after all ... I'll bet the children a A LOT better behaved! ;-)

Peace to you!

Yes, corporal punishment is still alive and well in my part of the Ozarks. Welcome to Arkansas, y'all.
