What are the procedure and how long are you supposed to stay "inactive" for?

Also do they put you out and when you wake up its gone or do you stay awake while they cut it off?

Thanks!

At least two weeks of not using it. Recovery can be painful especially with erections and urination. As for putting you to sleep, it depends if they just numb you and keep you awake, or completely knock you out.

Make sure you research it well, though, you can't reverse it. Circumcision is a traditionally Jewish and Muslim procedure, although it was introduced and encouraged to the Western, developed world as a way to stop masturbation, especially with the help of Dr. Kellogg. (see link 1) However, although scientific studies have discovered that circumcision harms masturbation by up to over 60% (2), needless to say, it doesn’t completely stop masturbation. Many circumcised guys find it more convenient to use a commercial lubricant as a result (3) since the typically moist foreskin that is like the eyelids is not present to rub the glans with (4).

Most developed nations quickly rejected circumcision after noticing its ineffectiveness against masturbation, and as a result the United States remains the last developed nation doing it to a significant percentage of newborns. (5) This was done as a result of the for-profit American health care system promoting myths about benefits of circumcision (6), such preventing penile cancer (6a, 6b), preventing HIV (6c, 6d) despite the USA being the developed nation with the highest HIV rates and circumcision rates (6e, 5), and preventing STDs (6d, 6f). As a result, circumcision is now brings in hundreds of millions of dollars to doctors and the American health system. (7)

However, circumcision has been becoming less popular as years have passed by. In the 1960s over 90% of guys were circumcised in the USA, now circumcision rates are as low as 14% in some states. (8) More and more parents are discovering that circumcision carries more risks than benefits, and realize that by leaving their sons uncircumcised, they have the choice of choosing what they’d like, since the surgery is irreversible.

Circumcision risks include the loss of sexual pleasure according to multiple studies (2, 9, 10, 11). Those studies take into effect many sensation points, including the foreskin, and they involve many participants. There have been other studies that claim no difference, but they don’t even take into effect the nerve endings on the foreskin, which as seen in one study, are some of the most sensitive points on the penis (10). One study even found an increase in erectile dysfunction rates after circumcision (10a). In another study, it was found that females ended up reaching orgasm with and preferring uncircumcised males in 9 out of 10 cases (10b). In addition, circumcision is extremely painful on newborns (12, 13, 14), and you risk many bad conditions, such as a buried penis when too much foreskin is removed and limits the size of the penis (15), or adhesions or skin bridges that develop from the head to the shaft when the skin heals after the surgery (16), meatal stenosis [occurs in up to 10% of circumcised males!] when the opening of the penis becomes irritated from too much exposure and rubbing and begins to close up (17), and meatal ulcers (18). All those risks are, of course, not including the possibility of having too much skin removed, which can cause discomfort during erections due to lack of skin to allow the penis to expand, and could consequently cause a hairy penis by pulling pubic hair and skin to the shaft. Often a circumcision scar develops around the penis after circumcision. In addition, circumcision has negative effects on breastfeeding. (18)

To conclude, here is a link that describes the anatomy of the foreskin (19) and the development of the foreskin with infants, a link especially helpful for parents (19a). Ultimately, one survey found that although uncircumcised guys are a bit more satisfied percentage-wise, it’s within the margin of error. (20) The only difference is that those unsatisfied uncircumcised guys can simply get circumcised and end up satisfied either way. In addition, in one survey it was found that up to half of circumcised guys expressed concerns on wishing to have had the choice themselves. (21) That, along with the risks and negative effects that are being seen more with the help of the Internet, may be what is bringing down circumcision rates.

I was circumcised at 18 and would do it again tomorrow! Inactivity is 30 days! Pain not much! First few days you ice it and Motrin takes care of any pain. I was done in the Doc's office with a local and watched the entire procedure. I was done on a Friday and back in class Monday! I highly recommend it! Don't believe all the negative crap the antis will tell you! Sex is 100% better, it's cleaner (no more smegma), healthier for both partners and you also cut the chances of acquiring an STD or HIV by over 60%! Why would any guy want to stay uncut is beyond me! Being circumcised only has an upside, no down side! E-mail me if you have further questions!

I had it done last year. They gave me spinal anaesthesia, which paralyzes the bottom half of your body, and then sedatives which made me fall asleep during the operation, so it didn't hurt at all, as I wasn't even awake. Afterwards was the only part that sucked. They put stitches on it that dissolve so you don't have to get them taken off, but it looks really disgusting because it's bruised and swollen until it heals. You can't shower for a few days, and they tell you to take painkillers (over the counter ones). For the first few days you have it wrapped in gauze, too. Also, it's really uncomfortable to walk even if it wasn't for the bruising and swelling, because the head is exposed and hasn't had a chance to be desensitized like it gets once you get circumcised. You can't masturbate or have sex for a couple weeks (but the first time you do after is f*cking amazing). Also, it does hurt if you get a *****, but that's not likely to happen very often right after because having a bruised and bloody **** makes it kinda hard to get turned on. Honestly though, I really wouldn't do it if I were you. I had to get it done out of medical necessity. I'm very happy with my penis, but circumcision does desensitize it.

I was circumcised when I was 19. Like any other surgery there will be some pain. In most cases during the procedure the doctors will give you some anestheisa that will put you to sleep during the procedure so you won't feel a thing. The healing process will be painful but the most excruciating pain will probably occur within the first two days. In most cases after the first week the swelling will reduce. For most it takes three to four weeks to completlely heal, for some it could be as soon as two weeks.

To be honest with you, I would do it again if i had to with no hesitation. I've had no regrets what so ever. It's a lot much more beneficial. Don't buy into the non-sense of others who are un-circumcised, or others who haven't experienced both forms.

Had it done when I was 14. They put you under, you shouldn't have memory of it either. It doesn't hurt all that much, you should get painkillers anyway. 2-4 weeks to heal, 3 worst parts are seeing stiches on your penis, getting a catheder if you have to (doesn't hurt having it in since they do that when you're under, but they pull it out through your urethra while you are wide away and that was probably the worst pain I have experienced in my entire life), and finally getting an erection. Think unsexy thoughts, erections hurt because of the stitches.

I'm not circumcised and I'm glad that I'm not. It use to bother me when I was younger, like in middle school. But once I became sexually active I realized that it's better to have the skin. Just make sure you shower daily and keep in clean. I would imagine that they would give you a local anesthetic meaning you'll be awake but won't feel it. It'll probably hurt like hell after the Novocaine wears off. If you want to do this because a girl said you should, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons. If you're like me the skin should pull back when you're fully erect anyways, giving you that (larger) appearance. And most girls don't care how big it is. As long as you know how to use it, your mouth, and your fingers.

There are different ways to cut a guy. They don't have to put you out, just freeze willy and they get to it. You prob wont want any action for a couple weeks. If you don't Have to get cut, I'd say don't do it. Try wearing your skin back for a few days or more, see how you like it.

It's usually local anaesthetic, so they just numb it and cut it. You could watch if you really wanted to. (I didn't!)

It is pretty damn sore, especially when the anaesthetic wears off. But some good quality painkillers like Panadol will see you through for a few days.

After it's cut, it should be wrapped up or bandaged pretty tightly by the doctor. Just be careful with it, and don't do any sport where you're likely to be hit in that area (e.g. cricket, football) for a while.

All you blokes out there saying don't do it should know that if you did do it you would probably get a hell of a lot more blow jobs! My current partner is the only one I have been with who is not cicumsized and let me tell you it is the biggest turn off. Even when it is clean it still smells like the inside of your belly button EEW. If he gets the chop I think I would enjoy going down a lot more:)
