I think it is worth it personally. I know a lot of man power has been put into this search and those 3 rescue workers were killed and they don't have a very good lead on the miners, but every human life is worth something so they shouldn't give up. They should keep digging at least just a bit longer so that the rescue workers weren't lost in vain.

The answer to your question seems obvious, unless you were the wife or daughter or sister or best friend of a man who has been lost in there.
You would be desperate for any shred of evidence that they might be alive....or even a form of "comfort" knowing they were dead, instead of trapped and afraid and suffering. In that situation, it wouldn't be such an easy question to answer.
Obviously, the mountain is too unstable since there have been multiple episodes of "seismic activity". In one instance only a large piece of equipment was lost. In another, rescue workers were driven back, and now finally people have been injured and lives lost.
All I can say in answer to your question is this: I'm thankful that I'm NOT the one who has to make that decision - to give up or go on. Either way, you're potentially condemning men to death. If the miners are alive and they stop the search, then they're buried alive and will die there. If they continue the search, whether the miners are alive or not, others may be hurt or killed. Those are the options, and thank God you and I don't have to face that decision.

Oh geez. What a sad situation. I honestly don't know what the right decision is.
I'm actually from that area of Utah. I grew up about 1/2 hour away from that mine. I have 2 family members who work for that mine. I wouldn't want to put their lives in danger to find people who may or may not be alive.
But I know that if my family was trapped and could possibly be alive, I would want the mine/rescuers to do everything they could to find my family.
I don't think there is a right decision. Either way, someone loses.

This is a hard one. I think they need to get the bodies out if the miners have passed on. I tell ya what, the little girl with the pig tails crying on the Yahoo front page broke my heart.

This is a horrible situation for everyone involved. I certainly would not want to have to make the decision because there really isn't any good choice here. They need to protect the lives of the rescuers but no matter what decision is made, there are going to be many people upset.

well, i live in a mining town in WV. my husband works in the mines. PERSONALLY, i believe i would want my husband's body found no matter what. as for the 3 rescuers, um im pretty sure they know the daily risk of their jobs. The families need closure.

Even if they are dead, which is very likely, I'm sure the families would want the bodies out of there so they can give their loved one a proper funeral.
