Yes they are talking about doing that. They don't want the movies glorifying smoking for the young people. When young people see their favorite movie actor smoking in a movie they will want to smoke like they do.

Do you mean smoking in the movie itself or people in the audience smoking? The former may be needed once in a while but the latter is and should be banned like nothing else.

I thought it already was. I've never been a theatre that allowed smoking, or at least not in the past twenty years. EDIT Oh, duh, in the movies, not in the theatre, no I don't think smoking should be banned in the movies, that's what people do, and movies try to portray to an extent what people do. EDIT and as far as not showing good role models to small children, generally small children do not go to see r rated movies.

Of course, it's more of a health issue. If someone wants to smoke they go outside. Smoking is bad but second hand smoking is worse. Even if it's in the lobby the smoke will spread and alot of people hate the smell of it anyway.

No point banning only in movies, it should be banned in schools, colleges, public places, as well.

The best ban will be on the manufacturing of cigrattes.

Yes, absolutely. Opps, sorry for the error. Yes, because it doesn't show good role models to young children. But I guess if it's like a movie from the 60s then it should have it to accurately reflect the times and just have a higher rating.

Not banned actually but should not be shown as a part of pride or style. Negative roles can have them but again those without style.
