They look like it is a string hanging out of them but it is there poo.

Not all of my fish has this but i was told that it ment there was was something wrong with them but they did not know the reason.

does anyone know?

There's nothing wrong with them as long as the poo is brown and not white, but it does mean you're feeding them more then they need and creating extra waste in the tank because of it.

That suggested, I had neon tetras and goldfish at the same time for it sluggish. each and all of the neons ultimately died however. My Orinda goldfish is 17 years previous.

if is white and stringy it could be a internal bacterial parasite infection ,both are easily treated with the right medication from the pet shop.
if your not completely sure about your, fish take them into an aquatic shop and let some one give you a diagnosis by seeing the fish,while people on here give good advice a shop can actually see the fish and diagnose it correctly

IT IS A NORMAL FUNCTION DON,T WORRY.TO GET RID,OUTSIDE CANISTER FILTERS ARE THE ANSWER JUST LIGHTLY AGITATE THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK ,THE OUTSIDE CANISTERS WILL CLEAN IT OUT,YOU CAN ALSO DO A SMALL WATER CHANGE USING THIS METHOD.
