good. i hope it hits the RNA showgrounds in Brisbane Australia. Because those stupid fireworks that go off every night (like right now) are really p*ssing me off. oh wait that means it would hit my house also. oh well i guess it is better to be dead than have to deal with the carnies on a daily basis.

If a huge asteroid was heading to Earth, we currently do not have the technology to deflect it. Nuking it would be a bad idea, it would probably just break it up into 'smaller' pieces which would cause a wider range of devastation.
The best option would be to create an underground, self-contained 'ark'. We need to be thinking about this now and creating the living space in several locations that will house a few thousand people with room for growth, there also has to be room for animals too. Kew is already collecting seeds for the planet's plants so that at least is sorted.
It would have to be a generational accomodation as it's likely that the Earth wouldn't sort itself out for many years. It certainly wouldn't look the same when we emerged and possibly we wouldn't look the same either as mutations could start to set in to adapt us to living underground.

What might surprise you is that, even though you posted that as a joke, you need to find out what is going to happen on March 3, 2012 that is just starting to leak from the Government that they've tried to keep secret...it concerns an Asteroid, 15.5 miles wide that's on a confirmed collision course with the Earth.

God can and will do or not do anything He wants; and there is no asteroid heading towards Earth and due to hit in 2029; and if there is, maybe it will hit and maybe it won't.
