Malone, no question about it.

Malone was an original top 50 player, and would still be if they re-did the list today.

If they re-did the list today, both would probably be there, but Malone is a top 20 player of all time, whereas Miller would sneak into the 45-50 range, if he was included at all... Malone outscored Miller by almost 12,000 points, and was one of the two best power forwards ever (the best pure power forward, Tim Duncan's really a hybrid).

Miller's ranking among guards only would fall into the 15-20 range.

Both players were durable, and missed very few games to injuries...

Over the first 18 years of his career, Malone missed:

No games: 10 times
1 game: 6 times (including strike season)
2 games Twice.

That's it....never missed more than 2 games in a season until his 19th and last year (2004, with the Lakers).

Miller played around 1,500 games, and Malone nearly 1,700... Malone performed at a higher level for a significantly longer period of time.

I loved Reggie Miller as a player... he was the best in the league at freeing himself for a shot, and he never seemed to get tired out there...constant motion... but even though it seems like he hit back-to-back 3 pointers in 8 seconds hundreds of times in his career, he really only did it once.... but that's what incessant replays on ESPN will do to people who don't know NBA history... .they think they're watching hundreds of such occurances... and they're probably wondering "Why did Miller always seem to do that to the Knicks?"

Reggie Miller is more effective. He was the Jordan of the Pacers carrying his team behind his back and their prime clutch player. Karl Malone, arguably had ample help during his time getting a lot of easy points on passes by John Stockton. Reggie didn't have that. Okay maybe Mark Jarckson helped but remember that when the defense swarms out on him he is the best at getting away at the defense (he was called the master of this and his student was Rip Hamilton). So there.

Karl Malone was consistently better, but Reggie was there when it was "Miller Time." Just ask Spike Lee.

Reggie Miller was a very good player, arguably great, but Malone was probably a notch higher and could be the greatest four of all-time.So Malone.

wow. a couple years ago this wouldnt have even been a fair question to ask...because malone most likely would've gotten everyones vote. but it really looks like that the 1 year he went to the lakers to pursue the elusive championship with shaq, kobe and gp...really took a toll on malone's stature. b/c up to that time, mailman was considered to be the greatest PF to ever play the game.

while reggie is known for his clutch shots and almost inhuman shooting displays at MSG...i think reggie at best is between the 10-15th best SG to play the game.

regardless whether anyone disputes my opinion...but i think everyone will agree that reggie will probably be more remembered for his play (and the way he ended his career) as opposed to malone's workmanlike style and how he left the game...

to answer the question...mailman without a doubt

Karl Malone. He and Stockton were one of the best pairs in Nba history. He was a 2 time mvp one of the leading scorers of all time was part of nba first team 11 times. 3 time all defensive first team. 14 time allstar. 1 allstar mvp. all time leading free throw shooter.

Reggie Miller was never mvp. though he is the all time 3-point shooter he was only 5 time allstar and never one the nba first team or on defensive first team.

Karl Malone was definetly the better player.

Wrong match-up. Malone is a power forward who lives with his inside power plays and mid-range game while Miller is a shooting guard who is more comfortable on the outside.

But anyway here's a comparison:
Malone is a 2-times regular season MVP (1997, 99)
No. 2 all-time leader in scoring
11-times All-NBA First Team
14-times NBA All-Star
2-times Olympics gold medalists (1992, 96)

while Miller is the all-time leader in 3-point shots made & attempted.
No. 13 in all-time scoring lists
3-times All-NBA First Team
5-times NBA All-Star
1-time Olympic gold medalist (1996)
All-time NBA leader in 4-point play with (24)

So for most basketball experts like me, I'll agree that Karl 'the Mailman' Malone is a better NBA player, he ranks ahead of Reggie in 'NBA All-time best'.

Malone, no contest. He is consistently ranked one of the best PFs of all-time, behind only Duncan. Reggie had some great moments, but I can think of four better SGs in the past 20 years just off the top of my head: Jordan, Drexler, Wade, and Kobe.

Karl malone brought both offense and defense to his team while reggie only offered his offense.
