Yianni,
There is nothing wrong with the greek users..Everybody knows that we are helpful, and we are friendly with the others. The main problem of the greek users are the trolls..There are many who chase me, you, George, without reason, because we DARED...(look what a sin eh?)to defend our country against provocations...They dont do it when they are insulted you think? And if they dont, they are idiots, because everybody has and it is his duty, independently of his nationality to defend his country, and i am speaking also about those who have differences against us.If we did a provocative question, i would consider them stupids if they would react...And this is the true...
But it doesnt have to do with the defense of a country..Their''passion''and obsession against some users is personal...Because...out of the blue...they just dont like our face..(immagine if we had picture)..
Example:There was a question, and it had been answered by people who had nothing to do with the topic...As soon as i answered it...aaaallll camebehind to juge me...The truth is that i didnt have the purpose to do it..But some facts and bad comments altely nade me answer in a provocative way against them..And i swear i didnt want it..So, sometimes behind some behaviours other things are hidden..Maybe a sorrow, because people who had been considered as friends porovocked us or whatever else...
The worst thing is that many of the people who do it...unfortunately are in our contacts...And they dont lose the chance to do it in other categories too..
Go to the question of Kimon...It is in greek no?Do they understand greek?No...But they run to put thumb down just to me...As if i have insulted them...And i never chased anyone, because...I really dont give a damn what the others write, they can write whatever they want..Do they pay taxes for it?(joking)
And i am asking...If a person changes position and behaviour, and becomes agressive...do you think that there is no reason?Or he woke up a morning and said:What am i going to do?Lets change behaviour to laugh?
When i hear the word''butchers''uncivilised(to us...hehehe),or other ''nice ''things...please tell me...who is not going to react?
When i see topics of Greece which do not concern others, and i see them interfering and connecting them with food or whatever else, serious topics, is it possible not to react?
Why this?Everybody wants good relations here..I was always speaking positively about coountries which have differences with us, always saying that the politicians are responsible etc..etc...
And ops...next day posted questions in the greek section, from different neighbours of ours..
They do their work well, they have their opinions...Ok, i dont deny it..But...then, why are they complaining about us that we are agressive and we dont want friends? They complain ok, they are maybe right....
But.....let s search the cause...and then let s juge....
Edit:You know why they make me laugh?Because they dont answer also...We are here, and we will not juge anyone, we can speak friendly...Dont hide yourself behind thumbs down..Just speak with us, we are young people, opened to listen to everything, and to resolve the problems beween us.
Chris, Yannis is an ardent user of the greek section, and supports always our country as a greek...

I think it may have something to do with this section being used as a section for Greek people rather than travel as it is intended. When people post question in a foreign language, people are upset by it as it is an English site. There should be a Greek Yahoo answers but as there isn't, Greek people use this section instead and for some reason this upsets people. That's the only reason I can think of.
Edit- Can I just add that I think it's great having many Greeks here as you provide really informative answers for people who are travelling to Greece. As a Brit living in Greece it's also a great help for me - especially Leonarda who has really helped me out. xx

Just "don't feed the troll". This is what they want. Pathetic people with no real lives, motivated by the fanatisicm their own country has created. I pity them, and nothing more. I sometimes laugh because of their stupid questions and answers. If they think that vaseline, anal sex and terrorism is what Greece is about, then they should go to school again, or maybe they should be thrown in Kaiadas for their affected so called knoledge and their incessant delirium of stupidity. Oh, and I report them, all the time. This is what we all have to do. I vote yes, since this post is a part of their trolling and it has to be eliminated. Don't be so upset because of them. They REALLY need to get a life, immediately.

Is there the possibility that you translate a rather personal experience into a national issue?
1. No one receives "always" negative comments.
2. No one receives "always" thumbs down.
It makes also no sense as this means that these people (incl. you) get thumbs down even among Greeks...
If the chances of having thumbs up or down are 50:50, then in this section, the great majority of Greeks are seriously biased towards "thumbs up". Not down. Try to test this for the same people in other sections and the difference shows up!
May I suggest that you stop victimizing yourself? Its very Greek, unhealthy (for you) and perhaps irresponsible. Question was asked for "asking" without a true case...It reminds me some Turks that keep complaining all the time: "why everybody hates us?"...oh well it's probably the God and the universe you know...
Now shoot me with your thumbs down..:)

There is nothing wrong with the Greeks on the Greek section; do not look in the mirror that others are presenting you in order to provoke.. you are a proud people living in a free European nation with lots to offer to us, foreign tourists.
As a Belgian (60) who spends lots of time throughout Greece since over 15 years, I consider Greece my second homeland. Hey, we are back on September 15th to get married for the Greek Orthodox church.. yes, in Marmari, South Mani.
We gathered so many good experiences & people we have learn to know and memories we nourish.
Sometimes I get obset to by this wild birds throwing dirt around; do not pay attention to them and look at the positive contributions that are coming from all around the world.
It will make your Q/S Greeke travel site even more attractive.
Edit: I missed Frank B's contribution who is right to the point; CHEER UP!!!

You know what makes me angry, is how people think that they run this site, like it is only entitled for English speaking people, or only intended for Americans! I was once reading a question by an English person about where to buy something and an American person told them to go on the UK site. (Thats not to say that all Americans are unhelpful). There shouldnt be a Greek only site. I love the fact the YA is a global site with people from everywhere and anywhere from all walks of life answering. Where else could you possibly get such comprehensive answers from so many different points of view!? And I think its very very rude if people are angry with us because they think this section should only be for travel. Do we not always answer the travel questions with as much help as possible? I love promoting my island and Greece in general! At least in this section we dont give stupid "duh, I dont know" answers.
We are not negatvie or rude or agressive towards others. There are just some very bored, sad, and small minded people out there.

Personally, i have some contacts such as you, Leonarda, Alice, and i never saw aggressive people.I know also Leonarda from the italian section...
I have been in Greece as an italian, and i can assure you that they are wonderful people.Sometimes i see that they receive provocations, and i dont interfere of course, but it is sad...Maybe this is the reason why they are so hard critisized by others...
Kisses to you my dear...

i believe that we're not doing something bad.we are friendly,we help everybody who asks for our help, and we're polite.some people might hate us and others might like us;that's normal.but they must not talk to us this way.if they don't like us they shouldn't answer but they must not disappoint us.sometimes i realize that the "bad" answers are at a great percentage for us.
but i can't explain it.i really feel sorry about everyone who's trying disappoint us without a specific reason.
if they don't like the question they shouldn't answer;'cause i am sure that they wouldn't like it if we did the same thing!!!

Whos putting Greeks down? Hell im Greek as Greek can get and damn proud of it..if people give Greeks the thumps down it'll be only because they are jealus, we have history, we have one of the most complicated languages and we are friendly and helful and if anyone wants to say otherwise then so be it. We know who we are, and above all we know respect..and thats why a lot of non Greeks love us and our language and our culture. So what if we get the thumps down sometimes we mainly get the thumps up (two in fact ;P) and thats all that counts!
