have on the Kobe vs Jordan debate? Kobe gets double teamed before he even gets the ball these days, if he played back in Jordan's era, how would that have affected him? more ppg, more titles, etc.

no matter how much you jordan fans out there are rolling your eyes right now, you have to admit that kobe and the lakers would be doing alot better if kobe got to play 1 on 1 instead of 1 on 3 or 1 on 5

Think of it this way, What if Kobe had Rodman as his defender could he score a lot? No because Rodman would probably tackle Kobe and he would not be assesed with any foul.

Illegal defense means honing more better defenders and that is why the 90's style of play was way more physical. Today's defense rejects the possibilty of a forearm extended to the defender... So when a player backs down and the defender extending his forearm he'll be assessed with a hand check. Why does Dwayne Wade get a lot of fouls when hardly anybody touches him? Back then players drive and there are no so called floppers drives to the hoop means getting a head on collision with the great blockers of the era (Olajuwon, Mutombo, Ewing and Shaq). Today they are in abundance (calling Manu, Varejao and the likes).

See you can't really say that Jordan was getting away because of no double teaming. Remember he's a slasher. He get's to the rim where he is met by a lot of defender and he attracts defenses that is why his teammates get a lot of open looks (Steve Kerr and John Paxson finals heroics). Kobe is a more of perimeter type of player and that is why he benefits the zone defense more because it allows more perimeter plays because it locks down in the inside. Zone defense was implemented to limit Shaq's dominance inside (Shaq was unstoppable until this defense was implemented if this have not been here expect a 10 championship ring from Shaq).

Hope that this helps.

sorta. Kobe plays like hes the only player on the team. So no matter what its a one man team. If they HAD KG, that might be different, but taking fade aways from the corners while being guarded by 2 people is pretty ridiculous.

As for Kobe vs Jordan, i think Jordan would dunk on Kobe because Jordan has more hops! =)

my opinion though

You could double team you just had to be defending someone. You could not be playing an area like in a zone. Bird's Celtics used to do the corner traps all the time.

Also with the defensive 3 second rule many players have stated that the lane is more wide open than ever with defenders going in and out of the lane and concentrating on that.

It's ridiculous to compare the two in the first place. Kobe's stats are no where near Jordan's. Kobe hasn't even been the best player in the NBA for his entire career so why are we comparing him to the greatest of all time?

first of all if your debating jordan v.s. kobe you know nothing about basketball which is obvious because you dont know what illegal defense is,,it has nothing to do with double teaming,,
