Yes, the title race will be very close this season. What makes it so close is that for once, other managers have taken more advantage of the transfer market than Mourinho. Liverpool and Manchester United have exciting new talents. If Chelsea sign Dani Alves, and both Ballack and Shevchenko recover and regain their old form, then we'll have a season on our hands.

Don't forget that Rooney is out for two months and Ronaldo will be unavailable for 3 games. Things are going to get very tough for Man Utd.

Liverpool have just added numbers to the squad mostly. I expect that Voronin and Torres might excel, but still, it is nothing close to a Chelsea team with a fully fit and in-form Ballack, Shevchenko and Terry, with Pizarro and Malouda to boot. Liverpool have got Gerrard, but he's just one player! If Carragher has a good season, then Liverpool are definitely in with a chance, though not a real chance.

As for the league winner, I think it might be a close call between Manchester United and Chelsea, with Chelsea just getting through in the end. I expect either Man Utd or Chelsea to get the Champions League. Carling Cup to Arsenal, and FA cup to Liverpool.

Of course it is not over, but it is refreshing to see the big 4 been taken on very strongly this early by Everton - it had to happen eventually Moyes is an ex-Celt - and let's hope that it does keep the fans entertained until May.

Last season was a beauty, with the race seemingly over at Christmas and then a wee surge, and then the match that won Man U the title the 4 - 2 victory over Everton, coming from 2 - 0 down.

I still think Man U to win it, but it will be a good one regardless.

Nothing is over... Chelsea are very strong team, but they're some kind of Real Madrid - they sign world-class players but, in fact this is not 100% that you will win everything. I mean Chelsea sign world-class players in every transfer window and the players cannot learn the others' play.Of course, they are one of the favourites in Premier League and even for UEFA Champions League.
Man Utd is the team which has the biggest chance to triumph. They have signed Nani, Anderson, Tevez and Hargreaves and they are all very very good players. In the team plays Cristiano Ronaldo too... Don't forget Wayne Rooney (despite his injury). Manchester has in the same time young and skillful players and old and experienced - that makes them so good :)... p.s. don't care for their draws... very soon everything will be different..
Liverpool - they will always be pretenders for every title... But this year I don't think that they will make something memorable... Torres (for me) is a player who is not good enough to play in a team like Liverpool... Ryan Babel is a good player, though.. The team has its megastar - Steven Gerrard but one player cannot do everything.
Arsenal really do lack class now, because almost all their players are too young, but they're all very promising and after 2-3 years, Arsenal will have all chances to struggle for the title... But not this year :)

arsenal are still it weve already got a game in hand over most the other teams and were still 8th...anyway if the premiership is over does that mean everton have won the premiership? because they are top at the moment.....but at this time nobody has any idea of how the premiership will pan out because only 90-180 minutes of football has been played by each team....CMON THE GUNNERS

I`m a Man Utd fan.I am a bit concerned by our start to the season but I expect Chelsea will suffer some surprise results this season too.Liverpool don't worry me and Arsenal will be hard pushed for 4th.

Well, unless my beloved Pompey can find a way to recover well from these injuries the team I want to take the Premier League will not win. However, I believe that liverpool really deserves to win it this season. They are very strong at the back, and they have a much more familiar lineup. There are lots of questions with the other top four, but you know what you are getting from liverpool.

Those who are saying it is all over are insane!! It will be the closest title race since I can remember with four or even five teams finishing close together...I think that Chelsea will just edge it though from either Liverpool or Man U.

I think it is far to early to judge the end result, every season there is big upsets and bizarre results, i think just because man utd drew both games, as so many have stated, last time we won the treble, i wouldn't count them out yet, last season Chelsea thought they had won and it came right down to the wire and Man Utd beat them so I'd wait and see.
