that the experts reckon that the firstborn children have at least a 2% higher IQ than their brothers & sisters? What do you think?

well maybe and maybe not

in my case
i come in 2nd place
my older sister is smarter than me (maybe was)
my parents noticed that when we were little
she was the first in her class in 1st 2nd and 3rd grade
and i was nothing really...just an avarage girl

as we grew up...her grades started dropping then got really weak at school...but it's just that she got used not to bother herself studying ...so maybe her IQ dropped
while on the other hand ...i started getting straight A's and i'm always of the top 3 in my class...i always use what i learn whenever i can and try to improve..
sometimes i feel bad when i need help with something but then she would tell me she forgot what she studied last year.

i guess it's not a problem that she has ...but maybe she doesn't care anymore
but still she is a great sis

so maybe it's true that the firstborn children have at least a 2% higher IQ ...but it's all about how you keep it and improve it
not that you already got it

OMG i feel i gave a lot more than you wanted Aussie
i was just trying to prove my idea that's all

While I am instantly wary anytime I see a reference to anonymous "experts," I would not be surprised. I can see parents spending slightly more attention on their first born, just because it's their first child and they are more afraid of not spending enough time with them.

It should also be noted that the IQ test is only a limited indicator of intelligence, in that it is unintentionally biased against minorities and different cultural backgrounds, and doesn't take the theory of multiple intelligences into account.

Hehee...Well, it may not be true in ALL cases, but in my family I would have to agree. (I am the firstborn, btw...or was that already obvious??)

But then, these experts are only talking about IQ. My sister may not be the brightest bulb in the pack (just kidding!!) but she waaaaay outshines me in a lot of other areas... ;-)

Hi There!

I'm a first child too but i don't think it does make me any brighter than my sister. i have another thought though. I think parents are much stricter with their 1st child than with their second, third, and so on. I believe they are learning to be parents with their 1st one and set the mark high, when my sister came along i witness it myself as a child she got away with things that i didn't.
