If I wrote 'Death to America' or 'Kill George Bush' in an email would it be viewed by an intelligence agency?

It will probably be flagged up by the computers that the U.S. intelligence and armed forces have to monitor electronic communications. Apparently there is a base in the U.S.(can't remember the location but its fort something or other) which has a massive underground room, full of state of the art computer equipment which does exactly this work

I would guess that it would have its own filtering systems, so a question like this would not be seen as serious.

Now if you where to write the same in Arabic, Russian or Korean, than it would probably be seen by human intelligence.

A competent terrorist would know to use code words, and this is where the real monitoring of communications takes place.

Mind you an incompetent terrorist can be just as dangerous, look at the failed 20th July bomber who through guile and cunning escaped London to Italy, where he promptly used his own mobile phone, and was flabbergasted when the security services broke his door down within minutes.

Yes it will be seen. But not necessary by an intelligence agency, but by a server that scans emails, sms. mms, and also phone calls. all it does is pick up words and certain phrases in the so called email (in your case), But then how ever if it gets over a certain % of hits on an email, sms. mms, or phone call it will alert the Authorities

Yes. Most of our emails are recorded. Check out the software of a Company called 'ATT&T Labs Research', try to follow the links and who it deals with. Read up on the sofware they have. Best not to put that stuff in an email? The FBI will be bashing down your door, just like they do when you havent paid your taxes.

Why do you worry? Expressing oneself in this country is a given right! Incidently, there are spies (intelligence agency, FBI, CIA, CID, MPI, etc), are monitoring everything. How else can information leak out and be reported on the opinions of American people? Their dislikes and so on. You do whatever you think is right, expressing oneself is not wrong.

Yes, it makes me wonder why you would write that here while questioning about them looking over an e-mail... However.... it also made me think that with all the negative feelings against the president, how could they even keep up with all of the things being said against him. I realize I didn't answer your question, but it was a good one, I guess.

It might be viewed by law enforcement agencies--remember, it is a crime to communicate a threat to a national leader. You have Freedom of Speech, but that freedom is not unlimited.

I once read the secret service have to look into every death threat against the president.They must be run off their feet with
