why do people refer to the heart when talking about love?

why do people refer to the heart when talking about love other than than the fact of how much someone can mean to us how they can mean our life and how our heart is such a vital organ. or is that the only reason love is connected with the heart?

to those who say your heart beats faster when your in love, your heart beats faster for lots of reasons when no physical work is being done and this is just the brain telling the heart to get ready for physical work.

First of all, the heart rate increasces when we are with the ones we care about. Secondly, the heart is the center of our life. It is what keeps us alive the pulse of the blood pumping through the chambers of the heart.

Sometimes when a loved one approaches (or, sometimes, leaves), we can actually feel the physical organ we call a heart beat a little faster for a little while.

When we are afraid for them, more so... Life teaches us however, that even though it "takes love to make the world go 'round," the world doesn't completely stop if love seems scanty. We survive, searching for it. We often find it too, in one way or another.

well, all I can say is that when you say "love" the pictured symbol of love is the HEART, even a little child, all of us picture love, is HEART, but the heart gives life of all the body parts of the even though some would say when you love, you have to use your head and not the heart, because the head is higher than the heart... but in the other way scientifically speaking, the heart gives blood for the brain to work, for just few seconds if the blood does not travel in the brain, then all your body parts are not going to work... but when it comes to saying you love somebody, it is wrong to say "I love you from the bottom of my heart" but you have to say " I love you in the bottom of my HYPOTHALAMUS! because it is the one who dictates and says all you desires, like when you're hungry or even inlove!...
