All you state for the democrats to do at this time is not possible as they can't over ride a veto! That doesn't mean they don't have enough votes to effect policy and start opening doors to the misuse of the Ag's office, to hearings about a takeover of the Ag's office, to include the voter division! They are not suppose to be partisan, but this one is clearly Republican focused, to the treatment of our veteran's at Walter Reed and VA Hospitals, which would have all been covered up! To the minimum wage bill!
Somebody is going to have to end the war and I don't hear any Republicans wanting to cut off corporate welfare!!
There is no victory, at least military, to be had in Iraq! Gen Patreaus has said this, Colin Powell has said this, and almost every commander ever in Iraq has said this! The Iraq government is in a shambles and we are in the middle of a sectarian civil war.
Anything done on the torture bill is going to get vetoed as the MCA gave Bush a get out of jail free card and he is the person responsible for torturing the most people!
Repeal the Tax Laws? Get real! Not in your lifetime!
And what agencies do you want to disband? One-half of our taxes go to the military and to pay interest to China on the deficit! Well, maybe not all!
Ands as long as the government is the source for corporate welfare we are going to have a difficult time getting their hands out of our pockets, and much is fraud, waste, or the government let the pentagon "lose" the money! Well, they did find this, though it wasn't the Pentagon who found it!
"Pentagon Paid $998,798 to Ship Two 19-Cent Washers

Aug. 16 (Bloomberg) -- A small South Carolina parts supplier collected about $20.5 million over six years from the Pentagon for fraudulent shipping costs, including $998,798 for sending two 19-cent washers to a Texas base, U.S. officials said.
The company also billed and was paid $455,009 to ship three machine screws costing $1.31 each to Marines in Habbaniyah, Iraq, and $293,451 to ship an 89-cent split washer to Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Pentagon records show.
The owners of C&D Distributors in Lexington, South Carolina -- twin sisters -- exploited a flaw in an automated Defense Department purchasing system: bills for shipping to combat areas or U.S. bases that were labeled ``priority'' were usually paid automatically, said Cynthia Stroot, a Pentagon investigator.

I never thought that. Both parties are deeply establishment and dedicated to the new imperial presidency. The dems are just a bit more progressive when it comes to everyday people.
We now have an imperial monarchy where the president can declare someone an enemy combatant without any rights and subject to unlimited incarceration and interrogation techniques (can we say torture?). We now have a monarchy worse than King George.
Neither party has the guts to restore the balance of power between the branches of government. No one is standing up to their sworn duty to the constitution. We need to start impeachment proceedings against GWB, not to punish him, but to restore the balance of power in our government as described in the constitution.
Why did we start to impeach a president for sexual misconduct and related coverup, but fail to impeach an megalomaniac who condones torture and is guilty of contempt for the other branches of our government? No person is above the law in this country... not even the president. Let's impeach him now, so that we can preserve what's left of our constitution and bill of rights.
George deserves a fair hearing. Let's give him that chance.
