The services have to be supported by a population one tenth the population of the United States.

The supported Services and Infrastructure is spread across the second largest country in the world with a very small population.

The fact that this is the second largest country in the world witha very small population; it costs more per capita to build and maintain roads, railways, bridges, etc; fund education, healthcare, hospitals, and a wide variety of other services that makes Canada one of the most popular countries to live in.

In my opinion Canada is more of a democracy than the United States. People can voice their disagreements of government policy without fear of government retribution.

Example: The Spice Girls were condemned by the United States Government and their reputation was all but destroyed for speaking out against the war in Iraq. Since then the United States Goverment has admitted they went to war on false information.

There has been no apology or compensation to the Spice Girls or anyone else who dared to speak up against the war against Iraq.

During the Vietnam war, many families litterly fled to Canada so their sons would not be drafted (United States had compulsory draft at that time).

The people who did serve in the United States Armed Froces in Vietnam returned home without honour - they were looked down upon by their fellow citizens and government. It was not their fault they were sent to Vietnam (it was not a volunteer assignment - they had to go if they were ordered to go).

Canada has it's faults but the plusses more than out do them.

Some of the best schools in the world are located in Canada.

Sheridan College is world renown for computer graphics.

University of Toronto along with hosipals such as Toronto Sick Childrens and Toronto General have made great strides in isolating genes for many diseases which have led to better control of the diseases and may lead to cures.

Do some honest, unbiased, research with an open mind. Low taxes are not everything.

nicely, the united states of america is extra of a republic than a democracy, in case you seem on the definitions. even if, as one answerer noted, we nevertheless have a governor that represents the Queen, that's extra of a formality than something that relatively has any result on what happens in government. Canada's democracy is designed to be a lot extra "by ability of the persons, for the persons" than the U. S. device. The contributors of Parliament in Canada are all ordinary Canadians, medical doctors, farmers, instructors, businessmen, etc., who've been elected to signify a area of Canada. you do no longer might desire to be wealthy and related to get a substantial government placed up in Canada! There are weaknesses, to make particular. A proportional representation could be much extra democratic than the device we've. even nonetheless, that could be a some distance sight extra democratic than what the U. S. has. For one, Canadians have extra determination of political events that certainly have of venture of being elected, while in the States, the super 2 enormously a lot obliterate any probability of a third social gathering stepping into. Canadians additionally do no longer waste gobs and gobs and GOBS of money on costly primaries. in basic terms think of if each and every of the money the events have been spending on political posturing replaced into spent on development residences for the poor, distant places help, fixing infrastructure, etc. etc. etc. So, my vote is for Canada's democracy, any day!

You seem to be totally ignorant about life in the USA. On average taxes might be lower here, and housing might be cheaper in rural areas, but in large cities it's still very expensive. Public schools are marginal to good for people who live in fairly prosperous neighborhoods; if you live in a poor neighborhood your odds of going to a good school decline drastically. The quality and cost of colleges varies dramatically; it's certainly impossible for every student to get into a college that is good and low cost. Most people under 65 don't get health care from the government, so that's a major expense for lots of people, or they just go sick. And sometimes government health care, like for military people, is substandard.

Check out the facts before you declare it's an Eden south of the border.

We love our system .We are a differetn country . We have a history being a common wealth country with Britian !!
We love everything we have here and on a scale I'll pay more in taxes to live in a country that has better social issues and easier health care.
Our system is modelled after the British ... now get over yourself

you are delusional with you need billions to live here...your streets look more econocically poorer than ours. Our worse welfare areas look better than your ghettos

You said it in your answer; the rate of taxation is too high. There is no incentive to make profits so there is not as much business being done. People think high taxes stick it to the rich but in the end the little guy pays in higher rent, higher prices and fewer opportunities.

People act like socialism is so compassionate but I fail to see how limiting freedoms and depriving people of opportunity is such a compassionate thing.

They elect their leaders in an election which is more fair than the United States. Does anyone really believe the electoral college is fair?
