Put quite simply: every single person has already left a lasting impression on everyone they have met, talked to, or just simply seen. Now while it might not be as significant as leaving behind anything else, by simply existing and interacting with the people and even the environment around us, there will always be proof that we existed.

I have left a LARGE body of art works. I have gotten art into major museums and archives all over the world. I have managed to push myself at least 200 years into the future.
I could vanish tomorrow and it would make little difference relative to proof of my existence.

I'd be sure to be in front of lots of people with a video camera, live on the internet and be remembered as that guy who vanished in front of all those people.

Common sense tells me that if I were to vanish, I would be more concerned about what happens to me and what I can take with myself rather than thinking or planning about what I would like to leave behind.

Having said that, I would however like to add that none of us acts with all that common sense and we do feel compelled to want to leave behind positive memories and goodwill at least amongst those whom we care, respect or love.

My tombstone. Purchased it ahead of time just in case this happened. And if I had enough space...I would have put Life is too short to drink cheap wine. But someone else put the engraving on it...I still might add it when I get some extra cash.

I thank goodness that there are people I loved who will live after me, and remember me. And, since I am an artist, and an author, and a former teacher, there are people who learned from me, or enjoyed my work.

And anyone who got rated as a best answer at least accomplished that........

I would break a world record before tomorrow, so people can remember me.

i would give literally EVERYTHING i have to the organisation i currently work with in helping the needs of a less fortunate country/family other then that i think i have made one of many marks that are still to come....but i would be pretty content with that mark that i have made alone in going to another country to help.....it IS pretty satisfying but other then that... also being myself had helped me make a mark upon others ...and possibly the help of wet cement for me to engrave my name in =)....never waste a blank canvas =)
