145 ... you feel chubby... maybe you do have more fat that what you expect...

i am also asian, 5'7" and currently 142 more or less. i am over the 20's btw. I guess the natural approach is to look at yourself in the mirror critically and decide if that body is ideal for you.

yeah... sometimes the bmi does not quantify very much... there are people who weigh heavy because they have a heavier bone structure... and i guess the bmi was originally designed for caucasians...

well then, do not depend your health levels on your weight. you can just measure it do determine if you had become chubbier or fitter. it is usual for men to store fat in the gut. it is not usually on arms and legs... so that fat layer in the gut is the best indicator.

Note that most guys tend to become chubbier by the time they strike the age of 25. so at your age, you are becoming more sedentary. you can be fitter by either working out with weights or doing cardio exercises like jogging, brisk walking or swimming. If possible, swimming is the best because it utilizes the whole body and is not injury prone like jogging (this is most injurious to the knees). but with cardiovascular exercises, you cannot expect to gain muscle, you will just be fit. you can combine cardio with weight training. that would be optimal.

I'm really not that sure, but go to this website, I tried typing it for you but how much do you excercise daily? Well, you just find out it has your pyramid and how much you should eat, 2000 calories is the daily based diet or so it says on labels, im not sure how many people follow it and how much a person ways from following it but just see.. :

EDIT: http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/food_fitness/dieting/weight_height.html
this site is more helpful , and I got your results: Your BMI Is 21.4, That puts you in 30 percentile, which indicates your ate a healthy weight. The range of weight for your height and age is 121 pounds to 181.

Anyways check it out :) [ its this calctulator on the middle of page ]

There is no set rule. We have relatives that pattern our weight and height due to genetics. Look back into your family tree for a few generations and see the height and weight of those before you, but keep in mind that there still is an overweight and undweight factor. The rule of thumb to see if you are in the correct weight for your height is to look at your ribs and mid section. If you can see your rib bones easily when breathing normally you are somewhat too skinny. If your gut is sucked way in and you can see your whole skeletin image of the ribs and count them you are undernourished. If your gut stickes out farther than your ribcage you are over weight. If your gut sticks out and bulges, you are obese. There is a national weight and height chart you can follow for some guide lines but your bloodlines will sometimes differ with that. Check the site below.

143 for a male that is 5'8" is a normal weight in my opinion. some would consider it underweight for a male of your age/height. from personal experience.. asian males tend to be super scary skinny. maybe you just feel chubby because you are constantly around other skinny asians in your family? ;) i do not know the reason. either way, the only advice i can give you is to get more active and eat better. i hope you can overcome what is troubling you!
