i am a writer. before i could actually write something, it's either i'm on a deadline or experiencing an intense feeling like inspired, inlove, angry, depressed, etc.

think of something that compells you to write, something you feel or like at the moment, something imaginative, debatable, weird, extreme...or just about anything! practice. practice will make it easier for you to write...^-^

Everyone has their talents. It appears that you are a good writer, but need inspiration from a story teller or someone with an idea. This is not uncommon. A good example would be the collaboration between a lyricist Bernie Taupin and a musical composer, Elton John. Their success is apparent.

You may need to collaborate with a idealist who has a story to tell, while at the same time use your talent as a writer. It appears that you can write a story if you have someone to give you a story line. Your composition would be based upon the idea of an author that has a concept. Another example would be Bob Krane who invented Batman, but relied on story lines of other authors who were employed by DC Comics.

I did not say before, but I am a musician. I do not write lyrics, but I do write music to song poems. I do sometimes change the lyrics to fit the musical score and that is what you have to do.

Fit the objective of your narrative from a beginning, middle part and to a conclusion that you and your audience will be comfortable with. When needed, use your own experiences to exemplify your position. You are not alone and most people will relate to your final work.

Do you ever talk to yourself? If not, start! I swear that as you talk to yourself, make up conversations with imaginary friends or enemies, ideas will come. Also read the newspapers, not the major crimes or world affairs but the smaller human interest type of thing. The boy who just got his first bicycle can be expanded into a full length story if you use your imagination and you do have imagination or you couldn't write other people's ideas. You are wanting ideas but you are not looking for them. Start llooking!

Try looking at "The First Line" literary journal; they call for submissions that all begin with the same first line they provide you. This might help jump start your writing; its still your creation, but you get a push.

Here is the Winter 2007 First Line:

"After nine years of marriage, Mary knew that the holidays were not a good time to ask her husband for a favor."

Stories due Nov. 1, 2007

Take it and run with it! Good luck!

You could do what I'm doing. Have you ever read a book and found a part where you thought, "Oh... that would've been cooler if this happened instead"? I have. ALOT!! So now I'm writing a novel that corrects every one of those that I can remember. So you KNOW it's gonna be good ;)

Think about your every day life and stuff you think that you would like to tell someone else, or something you enjoy or hate, or someone you know whom you admire or are disappointed in. The secret is to see that your own life is interesting and to write about something you know.

Another way to go is to think of something you want to ask about and look up the answer and then write about what you learned.
