i started watching the cosby show a couple of months ago and a few days ago a girl named olivia (raven ) appeared. how is she related to the huxtable family?? explain the story plz!!

Oliva Kendall (Raven-Symoné) is Denise Huxtable's stepdaughter. Olivia is the child of Martin Kendall and Paula Kendall. After a few years of marriage, her parents divorced, and her mother Paula gave Martin full custody because she thought that she was too young and immature to be a mother. Olivia was then raised by her grandparents and father.
When Olivia was almost four years old, her father, Martin married Denise Huxtable, whom he met in Egypt. The new family moved in with Denise's parents, Claire and Cliff Huxtable, who are now Olivia's step-grandparents. Martin, a Naval officer, is required to travel a lot, so for a while, Olivia was unable to spend time with him. During his absences, her stepmother Denise raised her. Olivia continues to live with her step-grandparents while her parents are in China, at the end of the show.

Lisa Bonet (Denise) left the show and starred on A Different World. Eventually Bonet left A Different World as well. Cosby brought the character Denise back on The Cosby Show later.
The story goes that Denise went to Africa ( I think it was Africa) and met Martin Kendall who was in the military. He had a daughter named Olivia. Denise married Martin and when she came home she had both with her.

She is Denise's step-daughter. Olivia's father is in the navy and isn't around that much.
I think they brought her on cause Rudy was growing up and wasn't as cute anymore.
