I'm not great with guys, but this year might be different, and to find the right guy, i might miss out on having good times with my friends. There's no guys in our group of friends that I like in that way, and i'm looking at another year of being the third/ fifth/ seventh wheel. What should i be focusing on--love, or my friends?

This is funny because I have a couple friends that have recently went through this or are going through this. You have to remember that your friends are your friends. If they are true friends, they should respect the fact that you are taking some time away from them to do something you want to do to make you happy. That's ok. At the same time, you can't neglect the friends that have been there for you through bad times for someone just coming into your life that you would be infatuated with. It's something that's hard to balance.

Have your love interest hang out and do things with your friends. Not only will you not neglect your friends, you'll be able to see how your love interest interacts with your friends and you'll be able to get their opinion of this person. Whenever a person is in love or infatuation, they go deaf dumb and blind all at the same time. Your friends will give you the perspective of someone outside the situation and let you see things from a point of view you might not have thought about before.

You have to do what is best for yourself, regardless of the people involved. Even though this sounds a little harsh, it's true. You have to decide if it's more important to spend time with the friends that have been there for you through all the things you've been through, or if it's more important to find that person that could be the one you spend the rest of your life with. Regardsless of what you do, don't alienate your friends. They were there before your love interest and they'll be there after that love interest is gone.

You can focus on both. Ask your friends to help you find a nice guy.

Are you in school? Focus on friendship. You'll have plenty of time for relationships when you're older.
