You know who did it, and you know where he lives. And you know for sure that he raped your sister. Would you take the law into your own hands? Or.... would you do nothing?

no . you can't go around taking law into your own hands. where will she be when you are in prison ? who will help her / support her then ? you need to work on getting her life back together. focus the energy on rebuilding and making both of your life better. know that this guy will get what is coming to him someday. you may not have the satisfaction of knowing that he's getting whatever is due him / but know that it will happen.

The justice system only truly fails when people take the law into their own hands. It makes mistakes, but mistakes are part of human life. The system is what is important. The ideal. The willingness of people to believe that they should amend and shape their actions not because their own individual morals trump all others, but because they see that the system is better than vigilante justice.

There is a higher law, a higher rule than ones own animal desire to act in self defense. There is a greater good. This is why people who act out vengeance are prosecuted just as vehemently as the original criminal.

I would want to do something, whether I would or not is a different story.

Interestingly enough I think you may have watch Law and Order tonight where that happened and someone murdered the rapist, saying an eye for an eye...the point was made well then the murdered mans family will kill you, then your family...etc...so in that case an eye for an eye creates total blindness....good point.

Maybe you should just go watch a Clint Eastwood/Charles Bronson movie if you want to get your jollies. Otherwise, please come up with a more specific and modern scenerio. The justice system has improved somewhat since the 1970's.

Oh Hell Yes! That's my baby sister, she's 33 years old, but don't mess with my family. I'm not saying I'd kill him, but I'd would HAVE to do something, if justice system failed.

If I knew for sure that he raped my sister, the justice system wouldn't have failed.

I would murder him but take the time to ensure that catching me wouldn't be an easy task. Given that I am sure he is the one, I'm quite sure my other family members would help me in this enterprise. A quick death wouldn't be the one he would deserve but at least he's dead.

You don't know my sister...she would be the one the rapist would need protection from. Of course, I would have her back; but I doubt if I would have to do more than hold her coat while she beat him to a pulp.
