I've seen some 3TB hard drives for sale, and they may be putting a 4TB hard drive in some of the new Macbooks when they come out.

For several months, the battle for the biggest consumer hard drive was only fought by Hitachi and Seagate. First, only Seagate was in it with its 750GB hard drive using perpendicular recording technology. Then, Hitachi decided to skip 750GB and go straight to 1,000GB (1TB).

The largest I've seen (on newegg.com) are 1TB (terabyte = 1000 gigabytes).

Don't forget that the larger your hard drive, the more you have to back up. If you use tape, it takes FOREVER. If you use DVD (single-sided), it'll take over 200 DVDs...

3TB on a mac pro
11TB on an Xserve RAID
1TB on an iMac
5TB on an external hard drive. I forgot what it was.

ok the biggest on sale right now is a terabyte of space which is 1024 gigs of space. check it out,

extarnal i know there is a 1 terabite on internals... i think is like 700gb or so
