Pentagon Paid $998,798 to Ship Two 19-Cent Washers
http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20070816/pl_bloomberg/ardg6dwccmfi
When will Pentagon ever learn get their numbers straight? If they can't keep count of the dollars spent, how could they be realistic with the dead body counts - especially when bodies were splintered into bits?
Are the rogues of C&D Distributors in Lexington, South Carolina Republicans??? Do the money they rob taken into account for the great economy we're SUPPOSED to be seeing? :-)

Isn't it time that the Lawmakers pass a bill/law that no President be allowed to appoint family members and buddies to head government agencies and put a ban on heads of government from giving out contracts to friends and relatives without legal bids that are thoroughly checked out? There are just too many corruptions going on during the Bush Presidency!

A question for Shannon: Aren't felons not supposed to have their rights to vote? How then did all those who authored the articles get their polls from felons to arrive at their statistics when those who were supposed to be paid to do their jobs to denounce felons of their rights to vote can't smoke out the felons???? Are they hearing voices from God to get to their percentage reports?? LOL

This kind of corruption and waste permiates (sp?) all areas of government.
Makes you wonder why people want to give more of their money to the government.

Republicans? Interesting political swipe. Consider that felons would normally vote Democrat, I think the odds are more likely Democrat.
I am not saying that because someone is a Democrat that they are more likely felons. The reverse does however appear to be true - felons are more likely to be Democrats. So, the odds are 74% or more that the rogues at C&D Distributors in Lexington, South Carolina are Democrats.
Since felons vote Democrat, that means the Democrats have rules or ideals that felons favor. Which means I will never vote Democrat.

Regarding your comment about a
"bill/law that no President be allowed to appoint family members and buddies to head government agencies and put a ban on heads of government from giving out contracts to friends and relatives without legal bids that are thoroughly checked out? Are you looking as closely at the Democratic leadership? How about the $90,000 is cold cash hidden in Democrat Congressman William Jefferson?
Here is one example from a conservative commenator to give you a little needed perspective. When he references the "drive bys" - know that is a nickname he has given to the biased liberal mainstream media that apparently has shaped your world view:
"It's a great example of what we've been talking about earlier. Dianne Feinstein had to leave the MILCON subcommittee. It's the Senate Subcommittee on Military construction Appropriation. She "resigned last week, less than two months after Metro Newspapers, a group of alternative weekly papers in northern California," lib papers, "detailed the number of defense contracts awarded to Perini Corp. and URS Corp, both of which her husband Richard Blum has ownership in. The investigation partially funded by the investigative fund of The Nation Institute, a nonprofit organization affiliated with The Nation," the liberal magazine. It was a critique from the left, and she was steering defense dollars to companies owned or invested in heavily, by her husband. This is bigger than Congressman William Jefferson! This is Duke Cunningham kind of stuff, and it's nowhere, because she quit. It is nowhere. The Drive-Bys are not interested. This is something that dwarfs the US attorney so-called scandal. This ought to be a mushroom cloud over Dianne Feinstein, but the Drive-Bys are not interested, her local media in San Francisco is not interested, and it is what it is. It's a classic illustration of why and how if you spend all your time in the Drive-By Media, you are going to be so poisoned and distorted you will not have any idea what's true and what isn't."

If you read the facts of the case, the items that were charged fraudulent shipping costs were flagged "high priority" and were for the war in Iraq. The pentagon stupidly put an automatic payment on anything that was high priority with apparently no parameters as to limits on shipping costs and such...just, kaching, paid... Whoever designed that system needs to be seriously looked at. It's not that difficult to put parameters based on shipping weight or cost of items and if it's over a certain percent or amount then it gets flagged and sent to a human for manual approval of the invoice.
It really ticks me off that our tax dollars went to pay for this kind of fraud. These women were taking vacations & buying high end cars and taking the money for them out of our pockets!
I am a little perplexed as to why you automatically assume that someone who would defraud the government is a republican. The republican mantra isn't "get ahead at all costs"...republicans, in general, believe in the American dream, they believe in people seizing the opportunities that this country uniquely affords.
Just like I'm not going to paint democrats with a broad brush saying that all welfare recipients are democrats...or that all democrats have an entitlement attitude that the government owes them a living, I would like to request that you don't paint republicans with a broad brush of unscrupulous, illegal and reprehensible behavior in the quest for the almighty dollar.
I'm a republican, I'm a business owner, I'm a Christian and a conservative. I, however, conduct all my business dealings with the utmost integrity. I know that I need to be able to look in the mirror in the morning to brush my teeth...and I want to be able to do so without feeling ashamed of myself. I refuse to take anything that is not mine...whether that be by overbilling, by stealing or any other means.
What these women did was terrible & I hope they get put away for a VERY long time! What they did was vastly worse than any of the business scandals over the last ten or so years.
Just my 2 cent's worth...
urlnts...I'm not sure if you were talking about me or the other person who referenced painting with a broad brush. If it's me...I'm not sure where you get the idea that I'm doing what I say is night right to do...point it out to me, please (believe it or not, i don't believe I'm perfect....just forgiven) so I can apologize if I did it. I try to live my life with integrity and honor & expect others to do the same. It certainly would be a better world if everyone did, eh?

im really ticked that our tax dollars were used this way, i live in new jersey and our tax is going up crazy every year, prolli because of this stupid scam, i think the government has all rights to confiscate this comapany (C&D Distributors) and everything the two sisters owned, then put them in jail for longer than just 20 years. Seriously they took money from the government, and a 20 years in jail which is basicly a slap on the wrist, i would love to steal that much money and just get a little slap, so i think they deserve more than just 20 years in prison, prolli life sentance, for stealing money from the government in the time of need, not just the government but everyone.

You're are obviously a liberal cry-baby with a narrow and simplistic view of the matter.
The people at C&D Distributors are criminals. Criminals are criminals regardless of whatever party affiliation they have and I hope they are caught and punished. The Democrats don't lack for criminals in their numbers.
Why you would want to attempt to negatively broad brush the military or a political party due to a couple of criminal citizens who were acting for their own personal benefit in trying to take advantage of the technology in place? It is an never ending challenge to keep hackers and criminals from taking advantages of technology in all aspects of government, business and personal computing.
In an article I read today, here is a quote:
The owners of C&D Distributors in Lexington, South Carolina -- twin sisters -- exploited a flaw in an automated Defense Department purchasing system: bills for shipping to combat areas or U.S. bases that were labeled ``priority'' were usually paid automatically, said Cynthia Stroot, a Pentagon investigator.

I bet the Pentagon closes this flaw.
Despite our flaws, you have no perspective in how great a country you live in and how much opportunity for success is available to anyone who applies themselves. The underlying economy is strong despite the recent market correction.

Are you trying to say that all South Carolina Republicans are criminals? That no Democrat has ever profiteered from Defense contracts? hmmm I think You should really do a bit more research. Im sure you will find that there are profiteers of every political persuasion. Don't be irresponsible.

I sure it the brother-in-law clause. The war makers have families working in such types of companies making a killing with this war. So of course they keep it going as long a they can.
