I have been wearing soft-lenses for a period of about 6 months now...about twice a week and for the past week i have been wearing them everyday for extended periods. I have noticed my eyes are starting to dry and sting with red veins so I'm going to stop wearing my lenses to see if they will recover.

Is this possible

Yes it should resolve itself, once you stop wearing your contacts & take a break wearing them. Use some Visine to get the redness out.
Also make sure, you're drinking enough water. This might make your symptoms worse, if you're dehydrated.

I have the same problem - extended periods of wear make my eyes go very dry (if i've worn them for a particularly long period of time, they'll feel as if they're sticking when i move my eyes around!), and bloodshot as well. I find that not wearing them for 1-2 days does help them recover, so that the eyes are better when you go to wear them again. It could be, however, that you haven't built up your wearing time if you've leapt from 2 times a week, to everyday for long periods. Make sure you build up your wearing time gradually.

I also have this problem. What I do is when I'm putting my contacts in I put two drops of contact solution and one drop of lubricating eye drops (I like Refresh) in my contact, then put it in my eye. If I feel eyes my getting dry thorough out the day, I use the lubricating eye drops again. I stay away from Visine when my eyes are dry, it tends to make my eyes sting, not sure why.

I bet your eyes will recover in a couple of days. Good luck

That happens to me 2. But i was reading an article that said contacts block oxygen to ur eyes (which ur eyes need). So i take out my contacts when i don't really need them..and now the red veins are gone and my eyes are clearer.

yes i think so and when u starts wearing them again ,use more of ur eye drops for each use, or what ever u uses or use it more often or just simply not wear contacts for long extented periods every day if u also have glasses.
