I own the airspace in my 2nd floor of a 2-floor condo. Pulling up the wall-to-wall carpeting, I find that the terrazzo floor is cracked from one end of the unit to the other and probably out the door as well.
If notified, would my condo association, in Florida, be responsible to repair the floor and check the structure's safety?

Now you know why you hire people like me, to inspect your property before you buy it.
The carpet on the floor would have been a clue to something amiss. Arraignments for an insurance against this sort of thing would have been appropriate.

This is probably nothing more then cracks from the building settling but, you could have it checked out, you don't say when you bought the place. You could see if the owner you bought from knew about this and was covering it up. If so, there might be a possible law-suit here for "conspiracy" to sell the property.
There is a law about this in Michigan, a properties owners Knowledge about problems and keeping it quiet.

Nope. You own the paint on the walls and the ceiling and the floor.

You should have pulled up the rug before you bought the unit, but probably the previous owners were unaware as well, so deal with it.

A cracked terrazo floor isn't going to crash you down to the next floor, if you want the tzo floor, get a pro in (and get estimates!) to fix it.

sometimes when you buy a place you get a 6 mo insurance policy out here in cali we use ahs (american home shield) its for things like you discribed ( surprises) and theyre really good about covering that kind of thing. you might check and see if you have a policy like that.
